First we need to install an application that supports wallpaper clocks in Ubuntu. Slidewall - the application recommended by vladstudio doesn't work with Ubuntu 14.04; instead we are going to install Wallch (Wallpaper Changer).

Many users hope to personalise their computers and this free desktop clock is a great option to keep in mind. Able to offer numerous skins as well as additional functions besides timekeeping alone this application is functional and extremely interesting. It is meant to replace the standard clock built into your operating system and a download will take only a few moments. Once the installation is complete the clock will begin to work immediately.

As opposed to a standard design why not take advantage of the themes and skins that this free desktop clock has to offer? From stylised readouts to a truly retro appeal there is certainly a design here for everyone. Please note that this clock also displays the date alongside the time.

Although this free desktop clock is appealing in and of itself there are other features included with your download. You will receive a fully customisable calendar while the clock can be synchronised with different atomic servers from around the world. Whether you are looking to add a bit of personality to your computer or you require this application for business purposes you will not be disappointed with what is in store.

Besides choosing another skin and customizing background colors, the settings menu also provides access to a time syncing feature that gives you the option to synchronize the computer clock with Internet servers.

Hi all, after upgrading to 16.10 a few weeks ago and lost a lot of my theme settings as another post refers to. I have been trying to search for how to change the panel clock font colour to white. There are tips here (Panel Clock Colours) but they do not work under 16.10 and the new gtk3.

The most stable (gtk3) theme I have found is GreenLaguna, I have mainly used this theme for several months. So make a copy of it and place that copy in your Home folder under /.themes. Change the name so not to get confused with the original. This will allow you to use your theme gui to switch to it. From there you can change the css files (color settings) without hosing the original theme. GreenLaguna has many color settings and I have not investigate it, so up to you to play with it.

Hi @donniederanged you can go to the following website and make a clock design then code the embedding code from there. then in your theme editor go to the footer.liquid file and paste the copied code at bottom

Hey, could you possibly help me out? I added the JS as a js (clock.js), and pasted the html into the footer liquid where I was thinking of placing it, but it did nothing. I am sure I am doing it wrong, I am not very experienced with java.

Most users on mobile and desktop will have a time clock permanently visible either at the top of their phone or the corner of their desktop. And people who don't most specifically don't want to be nagged with the time.

I have been running a 4k Wallpaper in Wallpaper Engine and I just noticed that the GPU clock speed on my GTX 1080 is between 1200-1800MHz. My GPU even goes up to 50-60C which triggers the auto fan. Is this safe to be running in the background all the time or would you advise against it? Any input would be appreciated.

Sorry, thought you were referring to that temperature triggering the auto fan which it does even without WE running. Only 3440x1440 wallpapers in WE make my idle GPU clock this high. Obviously it's this high or higher when I'm gaming, but I just didn't know how safe it would be to run all the time. I'm thinking it's probably not worth it.

Thank you too for your suggestion. Sadly, I got stuck way before I could do anything useful, as I could not get the program to find my clock plugin. It's the default one, but my GTK-inspect showed criminally fewer elements than the one given in the thread.

Correct. You are using XFCE 4.12 which is gtk2. Congratulations- So am I. I dislike the gtk3 XFCE 4.14... But, I will begrudginly admit I have found success in some of its components.
Ok, so- you could upgrade your xfdesktop to 4.14...
OR
We can set up your system as it currently is to solve your issue.
Let's start with a solution, first.
In your home folder (Not in .config) there should be a file named .gtkrc-2.0
Can you paste the following into it, then save the file:

Windows supports Light and Dark themes as a personalization option in Windows settings. Windows uses Light mode by default, but users can choose Dark mode, which changes much of the UI to a dark color. Users might prefer this setting because it's easier on the eyes in lower-light environments, or they might simply prefer a darker interface in general. Also, darker UI colors can reduce the battery usage on some types of computer displays, such as OLED screens.

We are working hard to broaden support for Dark mode without breaking existing applications, and to that end we're providing technical guidance for updating a Win32 desktop Windows app to support both Light and Dark modes.

Desktop Clock is a transparent digital desktop clock that displays the time, date and calendar. It supports different languages, different formats of time, and may be adjusted to your tastes not to collide with currently used theme or wallpapers.

I started with some ideas of using some well known themes to skin this clock and as worked with it I started to like the results and got carried away cause I was enjoying it too much and what started as the idea of doing only a few skins turned into 72 different skins/or variations.

And I also did them in two different resolutions (HR - high res & LR - low res) because of the different performance of older CPUs. Please if you do decide to use the clock and the the skins read the About Pdf document carefully so you do not bog your CPU down by using an inappropriate skin or setting for your CPU.

I though that some of you may like this cause many of them are Sci-Fi themes based. Try them, when you see them animated they look rather cool. You may want to check the Star Wars, Star Trek or Tron and Tron Legacy ones in particular but there are many other things.

Thus, if you remove the background line, the gradient covering the screen will be gone. Alas, also gone is the smooth transition to the header as well as the clock and the roundish segment at the end of the header.

Just a quick question to everyone: The clock in the header bar is not back, yet, is it? I tried several browsers and refresh cycles. But for now, the clock and the end semi-circlular ornament seem to have vanished. So, I am not complaining (far from it actually). Rather I am wondering whether I have somehow messed up my local installation.

The display array is a board that sets 6 ST7735 display with a resolution of 80x160px in a linear array sharing the clock, data, rs, backlight pins together, and leaving individual access to the cs lines of each display, This board allows you to display images with a resolution of 480x160px.

The board integrates also 4 general purpose buttons for human interface, which allows the board to have multiple applications, the main application that this board was intended to be used is a fully customizable clock.

This board connects directly to the SPI Display Array Board in its back, it also has an RGB LED and Audio Amplifier for color and audible notifications. The hardware is more than capable to manage 6 displays at a decent frame rate and has enough memory for more than 5 different timezones and clock themes.

All the graphical design files can be downloaded and modified according to your needs. I have drawn 12 Clock themes and it would be awesome to add yours to the project. The design files are Inkscape SVG, which means that the designs are fully scalable to other screen resolutions.
