Grizzly Park is a 2008 American horror film written and directed by Tom Skull. The film stars Randy Wayne, Emily Baldoni, Julie Skon, Zulay Henao, Shedrack Anderson III, Kavan Reece, Jelynn Rodriguez, and Trevor Peterson as eight teenagers forced to complete a week of community service at a national forest, during which they are hunted by a vicious Kodiak brown bear, played by Brody the Bear in his film debut. Glenn Morshower, Whitney Cummings, and Rance Howard appear in supporting roles.

A serial killer, Butch (Jeff Watson), escapes prison and murders an officer, before posing as his victim so he can disappear in the remote Grizzly Park. To keep his cover, Butch picks up eight troubled young teenagers who are inducted into a rehabilitation program, in Grizzly Park, to serve a week of community service for their respective misdemeanors: Michael 'Scab' White (Randy Wayne) is a white supremacist; Lola (Zulay Henao) is a Mexican tomboy; Bebe (Emily Foxler) is ditzy and dimwitted; Ty (Shedrack Anderson III) is a computer wiz; Candy (Julie Skon) is a shallow "it girl;" Ryan (Kavan Reece) is a spoiled rich kid; KiKi (Jelynn Rodriguez) is also spoiled and shallow; and Trickster (Trevor Peterson) is mostly concerned with pulling pranks. Arriving at Grizzly Park, the group meet Ranger Bob (Glenn Morshower) and Ranger Mike (Ryan Culver). Ranger Bob sets off with the group into the park, while Ranger Mike stays with Butch, who quickly stabs him to death before entering the park himself. However Butch is soon attacked and killed by a large Grizzly bear (Brody the Bear).

Through their hike, the miscreant youths are given an opportunity to seek redemption; however this fails, as the group ignore Ranger Bob and instead spend the majority of the hike lusting after each other. Ty and Kiki sneak off from the group, but Ty becomes stuck in a wolf trap. His blood attracts a wolf which kills and devours KiKi, before the grizzly bear kills Ty. The rest of the group reach the main camping site where they spend the night.

In the morning, when Ty and KiKi have not arrived, Ranger Bob goes looking for them, leaving the group at the camp where they continue to lust for each other. At night, after hours of searching, Ranger Bob discovers the gory remains of Ty and KiKi, and begins to rush back to the camp, where the group are having a campfire. Scab leaves the group and inhales gas, while Trickster dresses up in a bear costume to scare the others. While Scab is on a drug trip, the bear attacks and kills him, his death going unnoticed due to Trickster's prank. However, soon after the bear kills two more of the group, decapitating Trickster and mauling Lola in half.

Ryan, Candy and Bebe take shelter in a shed, but the bear attacks. Thinking the bear has left, Ryan opens a hatch; however the bear drags him out and mauls him to death. Candy and Bebe attempt to pull him back in, but his arms are torn from his body, killing him. Sometime later, the bear attacks the shed once more. Bebe escapes while closing the door at Candy's face, leaving her to be killed by the bear.

The following morning, Ranger Bob returns to find an upset Bebe. As Bebe prepares to leave the camp, Ranger Bob overhears her making a call to her friend telling her she had manipulated Ranger Bob and planned to murder him. As Bebe leaves the cabin, she encounters the bear and it brutally kills her. Afterwards, a news reporter (Whitney Cummings) is seen explaining the murders to be at the hands of Butch, who supposedly dressed up as a bear and killed the victims before escaping. It is revealed that Ranger Bob, in fact, trained the bear to kill the members of the group who had not learned from their previous mistakes.

SPURLOCK CENTER FAUGHT STADIUM GRIZZLY PARK BEHRENS FIELD MCDOWELL FIELD H. DEAN EVANS PARK MICKEL-HOOVER TENNIS COMPLEX JMH ATHLETIC ANNEX

The formal dedication of the Grizzly Park athletics complex on Oct. 15, 2011 made the year's Homecoming weekend one for the Franklin College history books.

In just 24 months, the college developed the park on 78 acres east of the main campus, upgrading and adding amenities designed to provide outstanding venues for Grizzly intercollegiate athletic programs for NCAA Division III competition and to encourage health and wellness in the campus community and Johnson County. A sound mind in a sound body is the underlying liberal arts philosophy with which Franklin College always has operated; Grizzly Park elevates the standard.

The main features of Grizzly Park include the H. Dean Evans Track and Field Complex named in memory of Evans '52, the Behrens Softball Field named in memory of Effie Behrens, a college trustee and 2005 honorary degree recipient who was deeply involved in helping the college remain connected to its American Baptist heritage, plus a 10-court tennis complex.

Other amenities in Grizzly Park include practice fields for intramurals, youth athletics camps and team practices as well as a 1.5 mile fitness trail for walking, jogging and biking, a hospitality pavilion for award ceremonies, concerts and picnics and extensive green space where students can study and conduct research on plants and wildlife.

A group of stereotypical young people are in trouble with Johnny Law. Their punishment? They have to camp out in Grizzly Park for a weekend picking up trash with Ranger Bob. As they head out to the park the headlines report a story about a deranged lunatic who has escaped from the local prison and is at large. Now this gaggle of youth is setting off for the wilderness filled with wild animals and a psychopathic killer.

As part of a new rehabilitation program, eight troubled young adults are sent to serve a week of community service in a remote California state forest range called Grizzly Park. Under the supervision of the stalwart Ranger Bob, the troubled group is given an opportunity to seek redemption on their journey through the forest. While Ranger Bob seeks to provide both literal and spiritual guidance to the youngsters, an escaped serial killer with an insatiable bloodlust has also found his way into the park with every intention of disposing of anyone in his path. But he is not the only lethal hunter in these woods.

The ranch being in the rough, remote dry dirt country of southeast Arizona forced anyone who was going to chase down these cattle figure out where they were and what calves they had to track, and track well.

Many times I would track these cows for a mile or two and once they saw me they were off to parts unknown. You had to figure out when you thought you were getting close before they saw you so you could get a good look at them. I think today how I use those skills.

Going out into the woods I listen and watch for animals so I have the opportunity to see them before they see us. There are times where we smell elk when we are close. I tell my customers on wildlife tours to keep their voices down and we may have a great sighting.

We could see every now and again where he would stop and dig for ground squirrels, pocket gophers, or voles- a nice spring time snack for a hungry grizzly. These tracks will always be made and erased by the snow, wind or rain only to be made again. Hopefully as time goes on more and more of us will stop and take the time to read them.

The Regional Parks Fire Department will be performing a fuels reduction project along South Park Drive starting Monday June 10 through early August. Equipment and crews will be operating in and alongside the roadway to remove dead trees between 8am-4pm Monday through Friday. This will require a single lane closure and delays lasting up to 10 minutes. Portions of the Vollmer Peak Trail may be closed during work hours, but detours will be available. All District trailheads and facilities will remain OPEN during this project.

One of the District's three oldest parks, Tilden has been called the jewel of the system, and its recreational activities have become a happy tradition for generations of East Bay youngsters. From a carousel ride and a picnic to a swim at Lake Anza and a stroll through the Botanic Garden, Tilden has variety to delight everyone. Yet there are plenty of quiet places in Tilden's 2,079 acres to shelter the wildlife and preserve natural beauty.

Tilden was named for Charles Lee Tilden, first president of the Park District Board of Directors. The park is reached via Canon Drive, Shasta Road, or South Park Drive, all off Grizzly Peak Boulevard in Berkeley.

There are many entrances and facilities in Tilden Regional Park. See the map below for details. The Environmental Education Center, Little Farm, Merry-Go-Round, and Lake Anza are closest to the Canon Drive entrance in Berkeley. The Steam Trains are closest to the Lomas Cantadas entrance off Grizzly Peak Blvd in Berkeley.

The park is located in the Berkeley hills just north of Highway 24--take the Fish Ranch Road exit east of the Caldecott Tunnel, drive uphill, and turn right at Grizzly Peak Blvd. From Grizzly Peak, you will pass:

Or enter the park from its west side in Berkeley from Canon Drive where Wildcat Canyon Road and Grizzly Peak Boulevard intersect. Canon Drive provides access to the Environmental Education Center and Little Farm, the Merry-Go-Round, Lake Anza swimming, picnicking and hiking. You can also enter the park on its east side from Wildcat Canyon Road off San Pablo Dam Road just north of Orinda Village (take the Orinda exit off Highway 24 east of the Caldecott Tunnel). From there you can access hiking and views from Inspiration Point, visit the Botanic Garden and Brazil Building, or enjoy golfing and the park's other attractions.
