It is a general comment in some leftwing circles in Spain that the
spanish future political sistem will be a confederation of iberic
estates. In fact Catalonia has already advanced on this way. President
Maragall as recently remarqued: "The spanish Estate is yet practically
residual in Catalonia". Castilian nationalists look to this as an
oportunity for reunifying the five castilian "autonimias" united in one
only Castilian Estate integrating Castilla y Leon, Castilla la Mancha,
Madrid, Cantabria and Rioja. Some conservative castilians are even more
ambicious and look forwards to constitute a "Castilla Total" with all
monolingual castilian speakers by inviting to join the proyect
Andalucia, Extremadura, Murcia and probably Asturias. The question is
what land and political organisation would they suggest?
