1) Environmental Non-Profit Speaker: Tree People! (5/6)
When: NEXT Tuesday, May 6th from 5-6 pm
Where: Student Activities Center, Basement Conference Room 3

Torin Dunnavant from Tree People will be coming to speak about his extensive experience as a community engagement manager at Tree People and the field of non-profit work. This is a really great opportunity to meet someone working in the field and have any questions you may have answered!

About Tree People: http://www.treepeople.org/

A native of Sacramento, which has more trees per capita of any other major city in the world, Torin recognizes the physical and social benefits of a healthy urban forest. Prior to TreePeople, Torin was a nationally ranked college debater at San Francisco State University, and a public speaking and debate coach at Sacramento City College.

Since his childhood, Torin has enjoyed exploring California's natural spaces, and is an avid whitewater enthusiast. Eventually the environmental world became part of his professional world, working with organizations such as the California Wild Heritage Campaign and Friends of the River.

Torin joined TreePeople in 2009 to support the organization's vision to facilitate neighborhood greening projects throughout Los Angeles. Giving presentations to audiences of all sizes is one of a number of roles that Torin enjoys fulfilling on behalf of TreePeople.
