Dear Alan,

Happy New Year.

An 'Earth and Space Science Informatics' Summit is being held in
Rome, 13-14th March 2008. The aim is to bring together the disparate
'geoinformatics' initiatives and programs that are sprouting
everywhere (AGU, EGU, GSA, USGS, GEO, ICSU, IUGS, IUGG ...). It will
be particularly valuable to include each of the 8 Geounions because
of their closely linked data interests. For example, they could work
towards a common geoscience mark up language for sharing data from
distributed sources.

Is there anyone from INQUA with interests in this area who might be
able to attend? The meeting is unfunded, so participants must cover
their own costs.

A plan for the meeting and a list of invitees is attached for your
information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,
Charlie

Dear Ken,

Happy New Year.

The program and attendance for the Earth & Space Science Informatics
Summit in Rome, 13-14th March 2008 is shaping up well as a forum to

bring together the disparate geoinformatics initiatives and programs
that are sprouting everywhere (AGU, EGU, GSA, USGS, GEO, ICSU, IUGS,
IUGG ...).

But we need a WGISS presence. Can you participate? It should be fun.
A draft plan for the meeting and a list of invitees is attached.

Best wishes,
Charlie
