I was think that it might be good to have everyone use a naming
convention when posting questions about a specific lesson. The
advantage of using a common naming convention are that one can know
exactly which lesson someone is referring to, it will be easier to
distinguish questions referring to older lessons, we can avoid double
posting the same question, and it is easier to research previous
answers. A naming convention does not have to be draconian and
strict. The naming convention format just needs to have an agreed
common meaning.
I suggest the following naming conventions to distinguish between
questions referring to a specific lesson and more general questions.
Y00Q0L00: My question.
Y00 means Y followed by the last to digits of the year
Q0 means Q followed by the quarter
L00 means L followed by the lesson number.

Thats a great idea, my appologies for not using a standard convention
for my questions. However, perhaps it would be more convenient to use
the Sabbath School Department's own conventinon:
ETQ110_10_Feb27-March5
Where:
ETQ = English Teachers' Quarterly
1 = Quarter (1-4)
10 = Year (2010)
_10_ = Lesson
Feb27-March5 = Optional. Actually it would be helpful to have the
Lesson Title instead of this.
Some time back I tried such an innovative way but later defaulted to
the standardized method because of continuity. Its good however that
we discuss and come up with a convention if the standard convention is
not convenient.
God Bless.

At the beginning of this project, we had a yahoo group because many of
the people we started with had yahoo addresses. Its only later that I
realised the google group didn't require any members to download the
files. The google group would have sufficed, and, honestly, I preffer
it to the yahoo group because of the easier downloading I have alluded
to already. It also takes in bigger files, a necessity for the
quarterly archives which are sometimes over 5 MB. Thats the rationale
for maintaining both groups. Because of the non-necessity of
membership to download from the google group, I suspect there are
people who download without subscribing.
In short, because of legacy, we have to maintain both groups.
It will also help in future in case google is down for any reason, or
in case google.com is blocked in some countries. Then there is a
backup plan, althought that will be just for the weekly lessons, as
yahoo groups cant accomodate the size of some archives, at least until
we compress them.
I had hoped that the church would take on the idea and upload the
archives and modified lessons, but things take longer than that. Maybe
in future that will happen.
God bless you Joachin, and go on working in His vineyard.
