Salutojn,

Well, it's officially over. The International Center is no longer
willing to stay open past 16:30, unless someone pays for a host to be
there to unlock the doors. Considering how much money i've taken in
from doing this class, since 1990 = $0, I won't be offering to pay for
it, and i don't think we should create a fund.

I believe that my work has been useful. But, i'm now old and have
failed to find a successor. The University is a profit-making
enterprise. The International Center has a limited budget. I offered
my C1 Certification, and asked for no compensation. I don't know
anyone in the area who would be qualified and interested in taking
over my "job".

I will consider looking for another venue, but it will be hard to
beat a free, First Class, well-equipped, well-connected location like
we've had. For those who are taking the course now, i'm willing to
meet somewhere else (Peets?) to help you to get ready for the
International Exam, or just to continue practice... at least until the
end of Spring Quarter. I always take Summers off anyway... we'll see
what's up in September.

So, i want to thank you all! I've learned A LOT from you, and i've
at least introduced some few hundreds of people to Esperanto, The
International Language... easy to learn, and anti-colonial.

Be well. Do good work. Stay in touch. - Garrison KEILLOR

Fartu bone. Faru bonojn. Restu komune ligita.

Salutojn, Treo,

Thank you so much and I am sorry to hear that the International center can not stay open past 16:30 pm. I guess tomorrow we will not have the meeting at Stanford.

I am very thankful for introducing us to the world of Esperanto and for guiding us through the maze of new language grammar rules and vocabulary.

I am  absolutely open to any suggestion for a venue.

I am not sure if it is too far for you, but the San Jose State University Library (Dr. Martin Luther King Library) is very modern and has quiet study rooms with whiteboards. I believe many rooms have also 48" screens. It is in downtown San Jose, it is easy to find and there are many parking spots around including places to grab a coffee or a sandwich.

As a backup plan for tomorrow I did a reservation for:

King Library Study Room Booking >> Sixth Floor
Room 622: 6:30pm - 8:30pm Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

The address is :
150 East San Fernando Street,
San Jose, CA, 95112

If that is too far for you and it is not working, please let me know and I will cancel the reservation.

If we like it, we can do recurring reservations for the incoming weeks at that location.

I would be absolutely delighted and thankful if you decide to continue teaching those great lectures, where we learn a lot, immerse in a new language, enrich ourselves with new friends and where we become members of a new community....

Regards
Ognian

Hej!

I forgot to mention that ... i believe that they will still open
the doors for us, for 2 more weeks, tomorrow = March 5, and March 12.
I won't know until tomorrow if that's true. If they cancel us for even
tomorrow, then come to class anyway. We'll walk over to CoHo (the
COffee HOuse at Tressider Union - from the International Center, turn
left, then cross the street, turn right again, and you'll be outside
the building. The hard part is finding the door! (It's in the
courtyard, hiding in the corner.) Ask for directions... or call me at
(415) 595-0042. When we get a table, we'll discuss the future.

I think we're still on for tomorrow. We'll see. :) In any case,
come to the class. If we are locked out, we'll go to the Coffee House
to discuss plans.

Thank you very much for trying to help. I'm afraid that, coming
from Oakland, i just barely made it to Stanford on time! :) I don't
think i can make it to SJ. But it's something to think about for next
year.

Yes, please cancel.

Perhaps i'll take a drive down there some time to check it out.
But... perhaps there's another school or something similar that's not
that far?
