Traditional festivals of Flowers and Fruits


HISTORY OF THE FESTIVAL OF FRUIT AND FLOWERS

The celebration comes as a response to physical and psychological situation in which left the city and its inhabitants after the earthquake on August 5, 1949, earthquake that destroyed the city and many of the counties at that time were the province of Tungurahua .

The Fiesta was then a manifestation of the will of Ambato, that by accepting the price offered by the nature of beauty and fertility to the land granted, rose with fervor and enthusiasm in search of answers to tangible damage. Ideas were born in different circles and groups in the city, were collected by the City and founded by the Cantonal Agricultural Center, an entity that thanks to the dynamics of its partners, became the focus of the organization of the first holiday that marked the February 17, 1951, limited primarily to an agricultural fair, livestock and industrial center.

The merger of the party with the carnival celebration, has been another important milestone in its history, as this detail has helped increase the number of visitors to make it tourist attraction for both domestic environment, as well as for avertimentu travel agencies that handle international travel packages.

In the organization: a gallant tournament to select the Queen of the Fiesta, which is both Queen of the city, the International Folklore Festival, with the participation of dance groups from different countries; Parade Fellowship (daytime), formed in the central number of the conclusion given the massive presence of spectators who congregate along the avenues and streets that make your journey; La Ronda Nocturnal nighttime parade involving the same elements allegorical the previous event, with the particularity that add similar reports by districts and private entities and presented with beautiful lighting, detail that makes them look different, and to complement the party with the highest quality cultural presentations: serious music, dance, theater in different modalities, shares quarters with own numbers in addition to those provided by the Committee.
Blessing of Flowers, fruit and bread, religious act of original and evocative of majestic beauty and solemnity that is considered unique in the Hispanic world.

This is a synthesis of the Fiesta, that since the celebration of its fiftieth anniversary, has had a transformation process aimed at making it a real showcase for the city to the world, for which purpose it has been used for publicity purposes by individuals departing temporary designations with which it has identified the conclusion, as it is a pretext and justification, only inspires and steers standardizes the meaning of the different elements involved, without affecting the essence of the event is none other than that which inspired their managers 59 years ago, that is to promote the flowers and fruit, which are the most genuine representation and identity of Ambato and Tungurahuense region.
