Corpus Christi

The feast of Corpus Christi, Body of Christ has its roots in the beginnings of the Catholic religion as it is to honor Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, instituted by himself on the eve of his passion and death, at the Last Supper, and commanded repeat as "memorial" of his redeeming sacrifice.
The deep devotion to the Eucharist in the village pujilense expressed over time in the solemn celebration of Holy Thursday (the day in remembrance of the institution of the Eucharist) in the family and community care to Sunday Mass and on Thursdays, the devout celebration of the 40 hours allowed to think and say that the feast of Corpus Christi was instituted by the religious and doctrinaire and gradually taking away special connotations, both religious and folk.

From the Catholic standpoint, the feast of Corpus Christi is established with a special ceremony to celebrate the feast of the Eucharist, which you can not give all their glory on Holy Thursday that this day is part of the Triduum sacrum, within Holy Week, which invites further contemplation and penance.

The way has been celebrated in over time: the Procession with the Blessed Sacrament, the Dancers and Castles in the Octave of the feast has various interpretations that can be collected to have some valid explanations.

In the field of religion have been those who, recalling how the Israelites honored the Ark of the Covenant as he left the tent carrying it in procession, accompanied with music, dancing, singing and rejoicing, wished to see in these demonstrations during the eighth, the celebration of the feast of the community that gathers around pasearle Christ to the city, celebrate and share brotherhood and the fruits of the earth.
Studies in our history and our traditions are, however, the desire of conquerors to unify the worship of the sun of our Aboriginal and harvest festival that assured them the bread (food) with the worship of Christ, sun illuminating every man that cometh into the world and bread of eternal life present in the consecrated Host, worship that was celebrated and feted by the entire community with all the resources at your fingertips.
