APIMONDIA 2023

El próximo 1º de mayo vence el plazo para presentar el resumen del trabajo o poster que quieras presentar en el congreso. Podes ser investigador, profesional o apicultor, el punto es presentar un resumen concreto del trabajo que quieras mostrar en el Congreso de Apimondia en Santiago de Chile entre el 4 y 9 de septiembre próximo.
Tienes tiempo hasta el 26 de mayo para pagar tu inscripción con descuento, ¡que no se te pase esa fecha!
Hemos estado viendo algunos paisajes de apiarios situados en distintos puntos de Chile, son maravillosos. Prepárate para hacer un paseo y conocer su apicultura y las bellezas que la rodean.

ABEJAS REINAS

Recientemente el Dr. Leonardo Porrini, de la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, publicó un trabajo en Apidologie mostrando la fiabilidad de los Análisis de Morfometría Geométrica de Ala para certificar las razas (subespecies) de Abejas melliferas. En la revista Espacio Apícola 137 lo publicamos en castellano para todos los hispanohablantes junto a una comunicación  del Dr. Alberto Galindo que muestra la técnica de análisis de las Áreas de Congregación de Zánganos. Ambos trabajos se convirtieron en disparadores que motivaron nuestra visita a Enrique Klauser en Entre Ríos (Argentina) y a José Tomás Valdebenito en Villa Alemana (Chile), sus entrevistas las publicamos en Espacio Apícola 138 y esa rueda ¡sigue girando!. Chile y Argentina, por distintas ventajas ecosistémicas, tienen una importante trayectoria en la producción de Paquetes de Abejas y Abejas Reinas. Si vienes al congreso que se realizará en Santiago de Chile resérvate un par de días para visitar a estos u otros criadores de reinas de uno u otro lado de la Cordillera de los Andes.

EXPOSICIONES APICOLAS EN ARGENTINA

A fines de marzo se desarrolló dignamente la Expo Apícola en Maciá, Entre Ríos, aunque la participación de apicultores de esa provincia fue notoriamente baja en comparación al año anterior.
El sábado pasado también estuvimos en Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires, donde la propuesta es más modesta pero que cuenta todos los años con un número estable de visitantes de la región, ávidos del encuentro y de escuchar un par de charlas técnicas. En razón de la caída en el precio de la miel, el poco interés en las mieles más oscuras y la catastrófica administración nacional, las ventas al igual que en Maciá no fueron muy buenas.

Nuestro próximo viaje será para participar de la EXPOMIEL AZUL, del 9 al 11 de junio, el encuentro y exposición apícola más grande y antiguo de Argentina.
En los próximos meses abundan encuentros y exposiciones fomentadas por los intendentes municipales de innumerables pueblos o gobernadores provinciales que buscan su reelección en este año electoral en gran parte del país. Hay quienes claramente persiguen la zanahoria que les ofrecen los mismos que viven de esta política que les confisca más del 50% del valor de la miel.

Next May 1st is the deadline to submit your paper or poster summary that you want to present at the congress. You can be a researcher, professional or beekeeper, the point is to present a concrete summary of the work that you want to show at the Apimondia Congress in Santiago de Chile between September 4 and 9.
You have time until May 26 to pay your discounted registration, don't miss that date!
We have been seeing some landscapes of apiaries located in different parts of Chile, they are wonderful. Get ready to take a tour and get to know their beekeeping and the beauties that surround it.

QUEEN BEES

Dr. Leonardo Porrini, from the National University of Mar del Plata, published a paper in Apidologie showing the reliability of the Analysis of Geometric Morphometry of Wing  to certify the races (subspecies) of Honey Bees recently. In the magazine Espacio Apícola 137 we published it in Spanish for all Spanish speakers together with a communication by Dr. Alberto Galindo that shows the analysis technique of the Drone Congregation Areas. Both works became triggers that motivated our visit to Enrique Klauser in Entre Ríos (Argentina) and José Tomás Valdebenito in Villa Alemana (Chile) two young queen bee breeders. We published their interviews in Espacio Apícola 138 and that wheel keeps turning! Chile and Argentina, due to different ecosystemic advantages, have an important track record in the production of bee packages and queen bees. If you come to the congress that will be held in Santiago de Chile, reserve a couple of days to visit these or other queen bee breeders from one side or the other of the Andes Mountains.

BEEKEEPING EXHIBITIONS IN ARGENTINA

At the end of March, the Beekeeping Expo in Maciá, Entre Ríos, took place with dignity, although the participation of beekeepers from that province was notoriously low compared to the previous year.
Last Saturday we were also in Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires, where the proposal is more modest but which every year has a stable number of visitors from the region eager for the meeting and to listen to a couple of technical talks. Due to the drop in the price of honey, little interest in darker honeys and the catastrophic national administration, sales, as in Maciá, were not very good.

Our next trip will be to attend EXPOMIEL AZUL, the biggest and oldest beekeeping meeting in Argentina next June 9 to 11.
In the coming months there will be plenty of meetings and exhibitions promoted by the municipal mayors of innumerable towns or provincial governors who are seeking their re-election in this election year in a large part of the country. There are those who are clearly after the carrot offered to them by the same people who live off this policy that confiscates more than 50% of the value of their honey in Argentina.
