FIN DE LA COSECHA DE MIEL EN ARGENTINA
Las principales zonas productoras de miel en la Argentina están concluyendo su cosecha. Sólo restan algunas floraciones de regiones específicas como la flor amarilla en el Sudoeste de Buenos Aires y Sur de La Pampa, el eucalipto sobre la costa del Río Uruguay y el Caa-tay en las islas del Río Paraná. La cosecha ha sido marcadamente muy dispar en todo el país con zonas que han tenido rendimientos extraordinarios y otras totalmente nulos. En los próximos encuentros que se desarrollarán en este mes de marzo podremos evaluar mejor los resultados de la cosecha y el ánimo de los apicultores.

ESPACIO APICOLA 142
La semana próxima comienza la distribución de la edición 142 de Espacio Apícola, la revista trimestral especializada en Apicultura que editamos desde 1990. En esta edición nos centramos principalmente en lo nuevo que hay que saber sobre Varroa y la importancia de eliminarla, el sistema inmune de las abejas, sus agresores y cómo fortalecer a las colonias. Una enfocada al inmediato control de Varroa poscosecha y el otro focalizado en nutrir las colonias adecuadamente para entrar en la invernada. Ambas, optimizando el escaso recurso económico con el que hoy contamos.

ENCUENTRO DE CRIADORES DE ABEJAS REINAS
Desde hace unos años la Cabaña Apiario Pedro Bover, del gobierno provincial, realiza este encuentro en su sede cercana a la localidad de General Belgrano en la provincia de Buenos Aires. Allí numerosos criadores de abejas reinas llevan nucleos con su material genético para exponer y participar de un folclórico concurso. Se acercan apicultores de distintas partes del país y del extranjero. En los últimos años se ha incorporado una muestra comercial que está en crecimiento. La convocatoria es en el predio mencionado el próximo viernes 15 y sábado 16 de marzo. Más información en nuestro sitio web.

EXPO MACIA
La ciudad de Maciá organiza, como todos los años, una exposición y fiesta popular que alberga distintos sectores productivos: ovinos, lechería, venta de maquinarias y a la "Expo Apícola del Mercosur". Ya está todo en marcha para esta gran Expo Apícola y los interesados pueden consultar el horario de disertaciones, de las prácticas a campo y todo lo referido al concurso de mieles que se desarrollará entre el viernes 22 y domingo 24 de marzo próximo. LLAMATIVA CAIDA EN LAS IMPORTACIONES DE MIEL DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS
Según el informe publicado por el Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos el pasado 28 de febrero, las importaciones de miel en ese país cayeron a menos del 10% en comparación a las importaciones de enero de 2023. Asimismo y para las mieles de Argentina el precio sigue bajando. Consulte la información y tabla de datos que publicamos en nuestro sitio web.

END OF THE ARGENTINE HONEY SEASON
The main honey producing areas in Argentina are concluding their harvest. Only some blooms remain from specific regions such as the yellow flower in the Southwest of Buenos Aires and South of La Pampa provinces, the eucalyptus on the coast of the Uruguay River and the Caa-tay on the islands of the Paraná River. The honey harvest has been markedly very uneven throughout the country with areas that have had extraordinary yields and others completely non-existent. In the next meetings that will take place this March we will be able to better evaluate the results of the honey harvest and the spirit of the beekeepers.

ESPACIO APICOLA MAGAZINE #142
Next week begins the distribution of the 142nd edition of Espacio Apícola, the quarterly magazine specialized in Beekeeping that we have edited since 1990. In this edition we focus mainly on what is new to know about Varroa and the importance of eliminating it, the immune system of bees, their attackers and how to strengthen colonies. One focused on the immediate control of post-harvest Varroa and the other focused on feeding the colonies better to enter wintering. Both, optimizing the scarce economic resources we have today.

MEETING OF QUEEN BEE BREEDERS
For a few years now, the Cabaña Apiario Pedro Bover, of the provincial government, has held this meeting at its headquarters near the town of General Belgrano in Buenos Aires province. There, numerous queen bee breeders bring nuclei with their genetic material to display and participate in a folkloric contest. Beekeepers come from different parts of the country and abroad. In recent years, a commercial exhibition has been incorporated that is growing. The call is at the aforementioned property next Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16. MACIA EXPO
The city of Maciá organizes, like every year, an exhibition and popular festival that hosts different productive sectors: sheep, dairy, machinery sales and the "Mercosur Beekeeping Expo". Everything is already underway for this great Beekeeping Expo and those interested can consult the schedule of lectures, field practices and everything related to the honey contest that will take place between Friday, March 22nd and Sunday, March 24th. ABRUPT HONEY IMPORTS DROP IN THE US DURING JANUARY 2024
According to the report published by the United States Department of Agriculture on February 28th, honey imports in that country fell to less than 10% compared to imports in January 2023. Likewise, and for honey from Argentina, the price continues to fall. Check the information and data table on our website.
