Saludos cordiales

 ARGENTINE HONEY MARKET

There is a lot of downward price pressure for honey on North American and European buyers.
North American buyers does not want to pay more than 3,300 dollars per ton for honeys below 50 mm and European buyers, which used to buy darker honeys in Argentina and Chile, offers up to USD 2,300 for honeys over 50 mm with variable conditions about fructose/glucose ratio conditions, glyphosate residues or Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids.

The situation of the Argentine producer is also aggravated by two factors over which They have no influence: a drought that has had a significant impact on yields and a confiscation by the national government for political use, which exceeds 50% of the value of honey exports. The theme will be central in the next Maciá Api Expo, Entre Ríos, next March 24 to 26. More information in Spanish in this video of about 2 min.: https://youtu.be/wIjaBWgGQFY

AN STRATEGIC DEMAND FOR BEEKEEPING

Beekeeping is globalized and debates on the border between the wild and the cultivated, it is a sentinel of the environment, pollinates crops and strengthens biodiversity in fragile ecosystem intervals. Agricultural and livestock pressure and isolation weaken bees in the face of constant technological innovations implemented suddenly. In this scenario, beekeeping seems to need a safe, agile, dynamic "safe-conduct" that allows among its conveniently accredited breeders throughout the world to exchange genetic material to strengthen and adapt more easily to changes. PRESENT OF THE CHILEAN BEEKEEPING TOWARD APIMONDIA

The main players in Chilean beekeeping hope that APIMONDIA's presence in Chile will be a turning point that will allow them to face new challenges after having achieved significant successes and international recognition in the past decade.

Honey exporters seek to differentiate their products, queen bee breeders seek genetic variability, supplier companies seek to consolidate themselves as regional suppliers for South America of leading international brands.
Read it in Espacio Apicola 138.
The appointment will be in Santiago de Chile this year from September 4 to 9.

Best regards
Fernando
