How would I go about setting up Multipath in ESOS.

I see in the wiki where bonding is discussed but I dont see anything regarding Multipath.  I would like to setup 2 Infiniband links with Multipath. I did some research on Linux Multipath but the info is varied.

Thanks!

Todd

Hi Todd,

I guess it depends what you mean by multipath... do you want the
initiator(s) to have multiple paths (eg, 2 independent IB switches)?
Or do you mean there will be multiple targets (eg, multiple ESOS
servers) that have some shared storage between them or its replicated
(or something like that)?

If its simply having multiple paths (from the initiator point of view)
to the same ESOS storage server, then you would have multiple IB
switches, and multiple IB HCAs in your ESOS box, and then you would
add the same SCST devices (and LUN maps) to all targets on the ESOS
side, and add initiators, etc.

Hi Marc,

Multiple paths to same storage server.

From the sound of it there is no network config, such as enabling multipath?  Its all in the the configuration of the Devices, Targets and Initiators.

Thanks,

That's correct.  Once you configure your targets/initiators and the host can see two paths to the target(s) you need to enable multipathing from the "client" machine.  Multipathing is handled by the software initiators and not by the target.
