Hello,
I would like to install ESOS on a software RAID 1, but my attempts have been futile so far. I managed to create a RAID 1 raid with a live CD and I managed to boot into the ESOS installation script which recognized this raid devices. I installed ESOS on /dev/md127 and in a live CD it looks good so far.

Sadly Grub does not boot the ESOS image.
It just says "GRUB " with a cursors and thats it.

Now the better solution would be of course a hardware RAID controller, and the server actually does have one (the mainboard does not), but it's a hassle to connect. I haven't even looked into it, to be honest. The hardware RAID controller is already connected to the front panel with hot swap devices...

So... is there a way to install grub on a software RAID 1?

Thank you very much!

Paul

I should rephrase the question perhaps:  So... is there a way to install ESOS on a software RAID 1?

For ESOS, the procedure is to install to a single drive using the 'install.sh' installer, then boot into ESOS (on the single drive). Next run 'boot_raid1.sh' from the *running* ESOS instance to convert to a RAID1 install.
