Hi,

I wrote a brief article on a recent dual-controller ESOS HA setup we developed around the LSI Syncro CS 9286-8e solution: http://marcitland.blogspot.com/2014/07/open-storage-dual-controller-oss-disk.html

I've had a couple people ask me some time back about our experiences with this new LSI Syncro CS controller, so I figured I'd share it here in hopes that it gets to those that asked.

Comments/feedback are welcome and appreciated!

Hello Marc,

Thank you for the great article ! I have been trying to find a fund at my company for exactly the same setup. So here is a real life PoC for me in order to convince my manager :)

At the moment, there is no obstacle for Open Storage to be accepted as enterprise class solution. We have the hardware, we have the  software.

As far as I know, Syncro cards work with disks/enclosures externally connected with sas cables. Do you have any idea whether it might work with some luns presented over FC HBA to the hosts with the same lun id ? I am trying to use cachecade feature for SAN disks and therefore I might be able to setup a storage virtualizer.

Cheers!
Niyazi

No, I don't think that would work with the Syncro controllers. You
should look at using ESOS machines in a cluster and use QLogic FC HBAs
as initiators (for your presented LUs), then use bcache on top of that
which would give you the CacheCade-like feature.
