Initiator mount failure with ABORT message

I am currently using LIO (targetcli) in production, however wanted to learn ESOS and just installed v4.4.1 in a lab environment. Everything is FC.
ESOS is up & running, FC HBA ports display on TUI as targets. The one I am using is 50:01:43:80:24:2a:6d:50 (6d50).
Initiator FAILS to mount the target. Here is the setup:
- ESOS is running on bare-metal with a dedicated & blank SATA SSD and a QLE2562 HBA.
- Initiator is an Ubuntu Server 24.04.4, running on bare-metal, has a QLE2562 HBA.
- Fabric is a Cisco MDS 9148S.
- Following the wiki documentation, I performed the below:
- Enabled the target (6d50): TUI show its state as enabled and its link speed as 8Gbps.
- Created a security group: grp1.
- Added the initator pWWN 50:01:43:80:24:2a:6e:fc (6efc) to grp1.
- Created a filesystem (XFS) at blank SSD, without any partitioning.
- Created a virtual disk file (vdi1) on this filesystem.
- Created an SCST device with handler vdisk_fileio, using vdi1. I left everything to default together with LUN=0.
- Added the SCST device vdi1 to group grp1.
At device menu, LUN/group layout window confirms the above configuration.
FC interface of the initiator is shut. When I run the interface (no shut), initiator throws an ABORT error message and mount fails. Below is the initiator's qle2xxx driver log (extended error logging is enabled):

TUI bottom line shows a session for 6efc, LUNs=1, BUT commands=0.
Finally, I DISCONNECTED ESOS, then ATTACHED a LIO target, the above setup WORKED. LIO target has a QLE2564 HBA. I am able to mount the target, read/write it in a regular fashion.
I will be glad if you help me with the above issue. Since I am a newbie, am I missing an ESOS configuration?
