Dear PhanTien,

Thank you for your time to write me. With your permission I'm going
to discuss at this respect in the forum because is a topic too
important and affect to all members.

I'm really sorry for that. It's a pity that more than one member like
you have been bearing such a situation. I wonder how long and how
many members have been affected. It's not anybody's fault. Just let's
clarify/solve things up!

> some your favorite forum on the internet. However I must say that
> there's a big difference between forums and our group. It's that you

As far as I know, never and nobody has told or written this group is
different in the terms you mention. I just reread the "About this
group" and the "Netiquete" page and in neither of these pages is
written such thing.

> can post a tiny piece of words (such as "thank you") in a topic
> because it isn't so bother the others, however for people who check
> mails from my mailbox like us, it would be really bothering.

Things would change if the owner/owners (only Ed?) would change this
but so far, the group is working like this since its creation date
(October 2007).

I wonder why right now and not never before this topic was raisen. In
the 'About this group' page we can see in mid 2008 (May-Jun) , the
average of posted messages was over 500 and nobody in that time never
thought that there were a problem.

Anyway, something important to bear in mind:

- When a list is a low-traffic list, it's usually a suitable to read
the posts using email clients.

- When a list is not a low-traffic list, it's not advisable to read
the posted messages using email clients, instead, one should consider
the option to read those messages in batchs, e.g. one email a day or
one email a week (the group/list software allow this).

- When a list is a high-traffic one, it's definitely not advisable to
use email clients to read the messages, instead, those messages should
read through web. Well, read is not the exact word, perhaps, just peep
or have a look at them (just the messages that been interesting for
the person).

Anyway, for me it's not good to receive emails regularly unless most
of them are interesting, and because this group is not a thematic,
everyone can talk or comment about whatever she or he wants as long as
not be off-topic (religion or political issues), can't we?

According to this reasoning, my advice for all of you is to check the
messages of this group using only a web browser or if you don't like
this idea, use an email client that offers you options to read emails
like discussion threads, or/and create a filter for the messages of
this group, or/and having an exclusive account for the messages of
this group.

Or simply, consider the options: Abridged Email (No more than 1 email
per day) or Digest Email (Approximately 1 email per day), right here:

> I'm really sorry to say that because I know that you just want to make
> a contribution to the group, however sometimes you should look at how

> never click to such links like that and feel really bothering for

I wonder why. Are you afraid of viruses/phishing links? Or is just
because you feel flooded for members like me? The more you write, the
more your English improve. I don't think any member should be imposed
limits, neither in number or length. Anyway, it's not so advisable to
post long messages, and it's not my opinion but an advice made for
people who works in IT and effective communication area.

Thank you,

Pablo

Hi Phan Tien and Pablo and all,

Phan Tien, thank you for give us your  opinion it´s very important know it
and thank you pablo for reply it and allow us also reply it.

I really know how bored is receive a lot of undesirable message on
our mailbox so every unrelated message are not posted, and
for member that not want receive mail and make part of discussion they
can change your profile to:

    • Abridged Email (No more than 1 email per day)
    • Digest Email (Approximately 1 email per day),
    • No email (Read and reply topics on-line)

Very short messages like "thank you' per example is also moderate
just because I dont want this group become like too much other with
    thousand of messages to read.

    The Group Etiquette page (http://groups.google.com/group/eslpodcast/web/group-etiquette)
help us to give a good discussion on group minimizing the possibility to bored someone
    but of course is impossible
    satisfy everyone.

About the web-links, I receive a lot of promote and spam emails on group every day,
Those emails are deleted by me, after I a web link to be posted I myself access it in order to certify that´s safety. Pablo is a old partner of this group and every link he posted is safety and related with english without concerned about promote websites.

    Regards,
