Hello everyone

I wonder what effect has the blackout that occurred in Brazil, you are aware?

A strange thing that is happening is that so far there is no explanation
for the fact

On the day of the blackout, goes out on the balcony of my house and
noticed something strange when I looked at the horizon, I saw strong
lights that resembled a great fire, and now a local news many people
reported hearing the sound of explosions.

If it's not about the blackout did not know, just think there is something
odd that people are hiding from

Have a good night, or a good day for anyone across the world ;)

Hello Eduardo and all,

I am regret about this after skimming the news on cnn. My concern is
that is there any alternative power sources?
Such things terrible are likely to happen in the darkened chaos. How
long did the citizens have to suffer this?

Hope everything will be recovered quickly after the disaster.

Hello Eduardo, June, Reinaldo, Jun and all

Jun, the outage lasted for almost 5 hours or so to affected areas get recovered completely. Surely in the darkness many things can happen! For instance, the traffic became a chaos without traffic lights working properly, stuck elevators and so forth.
It was a remarkable day for every Brazilian citizen who suffered from the blackout. That day I was wondering how dependend we are on electricity. We are 'addicted' to it and unable to live without. Imagine not being able to swich on the lights, take a warm shower, watch TV...
I believe I couldn´t get used to life without electricity.  How about you? LOL

Nice Friday for you all!

Hello Oshiro Charles Pln Claire and all,

Oshiro, in my country, blackout never happened in large area, but only in small ones. The same problems could slow down the development of a society and trigger an anxiety in living of citizens.

Hope everything will be good soon.

Great weekend and a half of hemisphere else

Hello everyone,

I am from Brazil, specifically in the state of Paraíba, in João Pessoa. This is my first email in this english mail list, and I am very anxious to learn here. I have great difficulty to learn english, mainly to listen and talking (at least I believe thar my writing is reasonable =P).

I am master student of Science Computation, in the area of geographic databases, I'm 24 years old. I knew this thread looking for websites that give tipos about how to learn english watching movies.

About the blackout, here in my state nobody was affected with this incidente (or accident, who knows?)

Hugs

Hello Bruno and all,

Warm welcome to this global discussion group of ours!
Oh,your age caught my eye because Charles,Jun and Jason(by next week?)
are 24 years old,too!:)

Since your thesis is geographic databasese and you said you need a lot
of listening and speaking practice, you must
be watching Travel or National Geographic Channels!

Pln(Poland)and Mikhail(Russia)are scheduling a Skype group talk which
will take place at the end of November and at the beginning of
December.
Charles,Jason,Jun and some Polish students of Pln's have signed up for
the talks.

If you'd like to join them then or any time, just give them your Skype
user name, and they'll be very happy to look for you when they're on
Skype.
Or go to 'Bookmark Page',look for livemocha(?).
I hear from others that it is a very nice site to practice your
language skills and make friends!

Good luck and looking forward to your next message!;)

Hey Claire and all friends,
Obviously it's different! People from south and north part of China think and behave totally differently!
First,I don't like the weather in beijing.Too dry and too cold(the winter almost lasts for 5 months which kills me~)
Second,i don't like the food in beijing.Large plate of dishes without any taste.Cantonese always drink soup(all kinds of nutrient soup with different Chinese Medical herbs)first and then eat. However, now it becomes better and better-'Coz you can find restaurants with different flavors from the whole China in Beijing now^ - ^

Beijingers prefer the social status, meanwhile Cantonese prefer the business opportunities(money^ - ^).But social status and money benefit each other, right? So it's all depend on the people's ability.

But i like Beijing too. Since the people here are warm-hearted, and it's with a lot of cultural and political atomosphere like any capital city in the world. You can meet people always talks about the politics which makes them feel more proud of this country~But sometimes i think they talk too much and do too little~ANYWAY,it's just their ways of life~
Before i came to beijing three years ago, i didn't quite care about the politics, but now it's quite part of my life to care about the big issues in China.I suppose Chinese people from different parts should often exchange or travel, then they will get more understanding of China.'Coz China is so big~^ ^
