Hello. I tried to find simplified english books in America, but I
wasn't succesful. I found just many famous stories for many levels of
english with limited vocabulary (i.e. 3000 word book, 1500 word used
in book) from United Kingdom (Oxford publisher etc.). Can anyone
recommend me some eshop or company that publish this type of books? I
read several of them and I know that sometimes there are differences.
I'm in California now. Bye.

Most books may not be free. It is not a good idea to find ebooks in
America. But still Amazon.com is recommended.

It would be a better choice to find free ebooks in China.haha~ Though,
selecting an English version book from so many Chinese books will cost
a bit of time. In my college, there's a website providing thousands of
books especially English novels。 If you like, maybe I can email you
some of them in .txt format.

Anyway,enjoy internet.

I probably didn't explain my question correctly. I'm looking for
something like teese books: http://www.macmillanenglish.com/ReadersLevel.aspx?id=37334&producttypeid=28250.
Macmillan is a publisher in Great Britian and they sell books grouped
to five different levels. To read the simpliest level 1 you need just
about 300 words. But there are harder one of course. Do anyone knows
about similar publisher or bookstore in US with similar books? I don't
want books for free.
Bye, Joseph.

There are different ways to measure difficulty of reading. Vocabulary
families is one of them. I just did a quick check of three books from
"The English Learner's Book Room" (which uses lexile numbers) that
Eduardo linked to and found this:

Silent Honor (Danielle Steele) lexile #600 - 85% of the words are from
the 2,000 word family and 6% are from the 3-5,000 word family.

Vanished (Danielle Steele) lexile #620 - 89% of the words are from the
2,000 word family and 5% are from the 3-5,000 word family.

Tell Me Your Dreams (Sidney Sheldon) lexile #720 - 75% of the words
are in the 2,000 word family and 9% are in the 3-5,000 word family.

Anything under 800 is probably intermediate level.

There are some other practical suggestions for deciding whether a book
is the correct difficulty for you in the article "Read to Improve Your
English!" on the same web site as "The English Learner's Book Room".
