Hello eskie shots and eskie people, I have a problem, I have not posted in a long time but I have been following the groups, I have a dog here, it was found at the dump by me, and its female, she isnt fixed, and she is skin and bones, well, after 1/2 bowl of food and some water she is basically just bones, its not an eskie, she has a docked tail, less than 2 years old maybe younger but she listens really well, some one basically dumped her at the dump,

OK I dont have pics right at the moment but she is like a really small german sheapard in build, she has a brown patch at one eye, but to be honest she looks like a dingo, she is really friendly, with me and the other two dogs here, she has a really old collar, no tags, it was to tight, I gave her Jakes old collar and harness,

OK I can not afford 3 dogs and 2 cats, I would like to get her adopted I will drive any where to find her a home, I am laid off I draw 220 a week, I can not afford to get her fixed, and yeah I brought her home to give her some food and water,, she follows commands, but she is skiddish, well she was skiddish, she found a knuckle bone in the floor and its hers and now the boy dogs, hardway and little guy understand its hers, but she wasnt mean about it, she just growled and they seemed to take that as lets let her have it, as I test, I got up, and took the bone, she stood up, never made a sound and she sat when told so I gave her the bone back. She is not dog, cat, or food agressive, and she just went to sleep.

Her color is cream, black spots, brown on her face one side and white spot betweem her eyes, she is now awake and just collected two bones and two toys,

I would deem this dog, who by the way I named, skinny big head the pester, as very adoptal, she dont jump on me, she follows commands like you wouldnt believe,

And no do not correct my spelling please, I write this way to annoy people who actually think English exsists,

OK if I look at her, she wags her stub of a tail, she like treets, and she will do what girls do for diamonds in a heart beat, thats roll over for a tummy rub, she, to my suprise does not have fleas, but she gets a bath and I have an extra flea treetment, I found one tick behind her ear, it was really small, hadnt been there long.

Now the catch, I have hardway, he is fixed, he is my baby, I have a littly guy that is hard to explain, he might weigh 5 lbs wet, he isnt fixed,  I have two cats that a human female some how talked me into bringing here, and I have to move soon, but I could not leave this little girl at the dump, she is just bones, "this is dog is as skinny as Rosanne is Fat"

Any ideas out there on getting her adopted, I am moving soon, and she will be adopted, or go the pond, and I am sorry for saying that, but thats the facts,

Robert, I don't know how it is near you but I'm assuming the pound is your only option down there? If there were a no-kill shelter or rescue near you that could take her I'm assuming you would know about that already having been involved with rescue yourself. If I'm wrong I apologize. That's the first thing I would look for and then after that, take her picture and post it here and other groups.

Can you put her up on Facebook?
Any chance she wasn't dumped but lost and her people are looking for her? She sounds like someone trained her pretty well.

You could make up a flyer or put her on Craigslist of course you have to be careful and get a vet reference or some type of assurance she's going to a responsible owner.

Sorry I wish I could offer more than that. Bless you for taking her home and getting her fed.

Good Luck! Let us know please :-)

Hi Robert,
You have such a good heart. I was in your same situation in November. I have five so can't take another as our legal limit here is three. When I looked around I found some small organizations not breed specific that takes in dogs even some  good veterinarians. They usually foster them out. You've probably looked.i it's only me thinking. Craigs list is dangerous to me as there are so many animal abusers on that site.We do rabbit rescue and have to check the homes and check again in a month. We make them sign a paper that they don't own the animal for 6 months so we can prevent this. Call vets and see if they know any rescues like this also local feed and grain stores. I don't know where you are located. Start a chip in. We can all afford 5 or 10 dollars to help if your really stressed for money. She sounds adorable and with a little good food will be great.

I have never been on craigs list, and your right I would never trust that, I have attached pictures for some reason my camera and computer dont play well together, but I got the pics.

I should mention, that I bought a house, at the time it was cheap and my mom was in the hospital, its kind of a long story, but,  this used to be a little 2 bed room house, it was built before they had indoor plumbing, how ever it was later gutted and turned into a dress shop, then the owner built on like an entery room on the front and huge bath room on the back. my house only has one side door, thats the bath room door, every thing else is wide open my bedroom door is over 12 feet wide,

The problem is, about maybe 10 years ago it flooded, not real bad, but enough to cause the floor to rot in several places, in one room that used to be the kitchen there is no floor at all right now, and to make it more fun, the owner hired like the 3 stooges to redo the floors, all they did was put down playwood over the rotten floor, they also removed a lot of the copper wire, there are no hook ups for like a stove, washer, dryer, when I first moved in, the whole house was wired on one 20amp braker, oddly enough there is a massive braker box, and the biggest oil furnace you ever saw. I just got an out building to put my tools in, but this kinda where my money goes, that plus being laid off, unemployment barely covers my bills.

However, in one of the pictures, you can see a small black dog, his name is little guy, when I first got my house, it had been empty for 3 years, it was full of spiders, so before I moved in I was cleaning and had the door open, little guy just came in and was sitting in the living room, so I have Hardway and Little guy. Jake my other eskie passed away.

And I know it sounds bad, but the shelter here is not a good option, it wasnt that long ago that the town decided it was to costly and they put all the animals at the shelter to sleep, not just some but all the animals.  A few managed to get in to rescue but the rest were put to sleep. To be honest she would of had a better chance at the dump than the shelter, if she was older or had of been in better shape I wouldnt have brought her home, its bad when more dogs get adopted from the dump then the shelter. But I couldnt leave her there, like I said she is just skin and bones, but she very friendly a little skiddish at first, I really believe she was hit or abused with a strap as she does not like a leash at all. At first she would run if she saw a leash, I have a really huge yard, I carried to the lower end and then used treets to get her moving around on the leash. She laid real still for like 5 minets but once the treets came out she figured out she can move,

If I had a fenced yard and my finaces were better I would get her fixed and probably keep her, but right now it kinda hard taking care of the two I already have.

Other than the not being house trained, she is getting used to the leash, I fed her a 1/2 cup of food this morning, I was trying to build her up a little at a time, but she found the kitty food in the bath room and ate all of it, so she is stuffed.

The other thing she has figured out is squeeky toys sqeek, she started playing and when it squeeked she dropped it and ran under my desk, I thought about checking on here to see if I could find like an all breed rescue, my other option is the shelter in Kingsport tn, they have a good adoption rate, and its a much bigger town than where I am.

At best guess she over 1yr old but not by much, she is in pretty good shape except she is really skinny, and I cant really tell if her tail was docked or was an old enjury, she does shy away if I move my hand to fast, but she gets really happy when I pet her.

Robert, Where do you live? Some areas have programs to help pet owners who are out of work or can't afford to keep their animals. Have you tired an internet search for those options? Some also help provide spay/nueter for free or like $20. which I am sure eskie group would help pay for it. I do know many places will give a bag of dog food every so many days if you are needing help keeping your animal out of a shelter. Its like a food bank for pets. That is just an option and may help you until you could find her a good home. You have a kind heart and she is adorable! Bless you. Karen

Hi Robert,

Little girl is adorable! She looks like a purebred red heeler or maybe a mix of that and something else small.

I'm sorry for suggesting craiglist, I got my Eskies Princess off there from some nasty people collecting dogs and selling them. I reported to MSPCA and they got busted and 12 dogs seized.  There are trustworthy people rehoming and adopting but it is risky.

Here is a link to a cattle dog rescue in Arizona, I know that's too far but they have links to rescue all over the country and I don't know which is closest to you so ill just let you look at the page. There is North Carolina and Tennessee on there so maybe if that's closer they might help or be able to direct you to someone.

I so wish I could help you out with this little girl, but I, too, have reached a time when I can no longer afford, nor for reasons of health, take any more animals in!  She looks to be a beautiful doggie, and I would be more than willing to send you some money to help get her spayed, transported, if someone comes forward, etc.  Please let me know if you get a fund going, and where I can send you a check!

Much love and hugs, for you, you old rascal!
