Right off the bat - this is the first bike rack I have ever owned, so I can't really compare with other racks.
I have a 2' hitch receiver on my Honda Pilot and it was super easy to install this rack. The rack is one piece out of the box, it weighs about 40 (maybe 50?) pounds, but wasn't unwieldy to handle. All I had to do was follow the instructions and insert the tip into the receiver, turn the knob to tighten, lock with the provided key ... and that's it!
There are two levers to operate the rack, when you pull up the large red one on top, the "arms" (upon which your bikes sit) can be raised or lowered. There is a black lever on the face of the rack, when you pull this up, you can angle the entire rack away from your car - especially useful when I need to retrieve something from the back of my SUV (note, you can't do this with your bikes loaded ... you'll want a "swing-away" rack for that).
After you lift your bike up onto the rack and position it properly, then you're required to insert 3 straps to hold the bike (they call the straps "Zip Strips") ... these are like zip ties and hold the bike down to the rack. Here's the reason why I only gave this 4 stars ... these zip strips must be fully removed before the bikes can be unmounted, and this can cause you to easily misplace them (I've left mine on the ground and driven away). I've seen other bike racks where there is an elastic-type mechanism that holds the bike to the rack, and those elastics are a permanent fixture.
On to more good stuff. After I installed the rack, I was impressed that it looked good ... and a quick test drive impressed me that there was no rattling sounds at all.
Overall, I recommend this rack!
