Good Grease Gun

I choose this Lincoln 18v with 2 batteries over the Milwaukee 12v single battery. Both grease guns were rated at 7500 psi. I agreed with the other reviews. I went with the Lincoln because it had a hard case (as well as 18v). I did not want grease all over everything. Ironically, the day this grease gun arrived at my house, I stopped at Rural King (a farm store), and a salesman told me they have a new 18v Milwaukee 2 speed (high and low) grease gun with a hard case. the Milwaukee is rated at 10,000 psi vs. 7,500 psi. It also has a 4' hose instead of 30". It also has the lithium-ion battery (which should outlast several of these batteries). The Milwaukee has a 5 year warranty for the tool (2 or 3 year for the battery) vs 1 year for the Lincoln, and I do not know if the batteries have any warranty. I sure would have paid the other $35.00 difference for the Milwaukee, but it is too late now. The 3 star rating is for several reasons. The first thing you are told to do is charge the batteries for 12 hour the fist time before using the grease gun. The first battery charged fine. The other battery I had to keep taking in and out. Finally I put the first battery back in and out. After several attempts, the other battery started to take a charge. So far, it works great. I have not had a problem since until this last time. I charged one battery--no problem. When I went to charge the other battery, it would not charge. I took it back out. I only had to put it back in one more time. It charged just fine, so I do not know if I got a battery problem or not. Second, the first time I used the grease gun, the coupler at the end of the hose that fits over the grease fittings blew grease everywhere except into the fitting. Despite spending $236.00 for this grease gun, I had to use my hand grease gun--no mess what so ever. I thought I just had a bad coupler, so I ordered a 5 pack from a seller at amazon.com for around $20.00 with shipping. I also stop at Rural King and bought a $3.00 4 jaw coupler (instead of Lincoln 3 jaw). I tried a Lincoln coupler first. I had no problem except on about 4 fittings. The hand grease gun worked fine, so I tried another Lincoln coupler with the same result as the replacement. It too blew grease around the fitting. Finally, I put on the $3.00 coupler. It work like the hand gun--no mess. I think the problem is solved. Lastly, this grease gun is rated at 7500 psi. I tried to look up the owners manual on-line since mine is 70 miles away. I could not find anything on the Lincoln site. However, I am sure according to the manual, there is a safety relief valve at 7,000 psi. Furthermore, according to the owners manual, the replacement coupler #5852 (and probably the hose as well) is rated at 6,000 psi. In fact, I bought a bag of 5 replacement couplers. It said not to exceed the 6,000 psi limit. Bottom line, by the time I replace the grease hose couplers, I am almost up to the price difference of the 10,000 psi Milwaukee grease gun. It even has a carry strap for the gun included (additional cost on the Lincoln). So far, the Lincoln has been strong enough to do the job. I did have one fitting on a tractor and one on the truck that bogged the motor way down. It even spit a little grease out the side of the gun (I think that safety valve). So far, it has been a great tool, and only time will tell if the gun and batteries hold up. I do not know if the Milwaukee would have bogged down or not. It might be all hype. I do know, however, at Rural King, the Milwaukee hose and coupler are rated at 10,000 psi--not 6,000. I also know, if I could choose all over again, I would choose the Milwaukee. On both the tractor and the truck, that 4' hose would have been handy. I think that hose was around $25.00, but I bet it would not fit in the Lincoln case (since it is 18" longer). Before the 18v Milwaukee, I don't think there was much of a choice--buy the 18v Lincoln, but since there is the 18v milwaukee, I don't think there is much of a choice--buy the Milwaukee. In addition, I have read the reviews that say these Lincoln guns are stronger than the hand guns. I can not say one way or the other since neither has failed due to lack of power. The Lincoln just did not have a good coupler on the end of the hose. However, some of the hand grease guns are rated at 10,000 psi. I know this has been a long review, but you are talking about a lot of money. I hope this will help.

This lincoln power lubber works great. It saves a lot of time and energy. We have been able to grease some fittings with this thing that we could not do by hand. This thing puts so much more pressure than you can by hand. I highly recommend this product.

Well worth the money

Product shipped very fast and was delivered fast. I ran 5 tubes of grease through it a day everyday for a month and a half so far and not one problem to report. The only thing I can think of is it says the battery last for 10 tubes, I was getting 6-7 tubes out of each battery. I was using it in some tuff zerks so im sure that had something to do with it. This thing will move grease fast. On high flow setting this thing will pump grease faster than you can count. On the low side it still puts out more grease per stroke than a manual grease gun but slow enough to count the strokes. All in all Im very happy with it and wish I would have ordered it sooner.
