to eshare
Hi,
Just to tell about progress with eShare alternative firmware, and some
future concerns:
- Kernel 2.6.24 is working (in RAM via tftp), networking and flash
properly recognized;
- Will make extensive tests with those before changing parameters on
kernel, to build a baseline;
- Ethernet MAC address is stored in nvram located @ 0x30000, will be
preserved in the process, option to change it by software will be
retained;
- The device is overall very responsive;
- LED and Buttons modules are @end of list of changes;
- By taking a deeper look in the vendor firmware files, I'm confident
that the firmware upgrade will be done in web interface. As the
original flash partitioning don't maps all flash space, the upgrade
will have to be done in two steps: First to an intermediate one that
correctly maps all 8MB, then to the alternate firmware, that will be
able to use all of it. The original update executable/script was not
analyzed yet, to determine if the process will be revertible.
Rgds,
Gazineu
