ESGA,

Do you think I should go in and invite people to Org Sync and our group?

Thoughts?

P.S. Adam got us a new logo which looks much cooler.

Dear EP 14s and 15s,

I'm writing to formally introduce you to OrgSync, our fantastic new tool for managing student organizations. Student clubs can invite members, create events, store files, share calendars, manage their budgets, and tons more! We are going to use OrgSync to connect students to their clubs, to their class, and to the Program Office.

All you need to do is login with your netID, and ask to join ESGA, and any clubs in which you are involved. We ask that you take these steps to get started:

1. Set up your profile, complete with a photo

2. Click "Join Now" in the ESGA portal and any club of which you are an active member

3. Continue to log in to OrgSync for news, photos, and event invitations from your clubs and ESGA

Thanks, and let us know if you have any questions,

The Program Office

OrgSync Basics

Campus Community

The community provides the foundation for your private online campus network. Every community is managed by community administrators who have the authority to oversee and manage all aspects of the community, including departments, organizations, and students.

Departments

A department portal relates to a specific office on campus and each community may have just one or multiple departments depending on how you choose to structure your community. Every department has its own administrators with the authority to oversee and manage various aspects of the department.

Organizations

Organization portals create a central, online location for student leaders to more efficiently manage their organizations and members. Organizations are part of the larger campus community and administrators have the ability to oversee and manage their activity.

Students

Each student is registered under their campus community and has access to important resources that allow them to discover programs and organizations on campus. OrgSync makes it easier for students to engage in campus life and manage their co-curricular involvement.

I guess I should also say, after this email went out only 3 people requested to join the ESGA page.

HMMMMM maybe we put it in the weekly email? and see what we get from that? but yes, it might be worth talking about an email...,maybe set up a laptop near the snacks (once summer classes start....)

Do we attribute the lack of sign-ups to (1) people not being adequately informed or (2) people not being interested?

The answer to this question is important to decide how to craft any future invitations/reminders about orgsync.

I think the problem is a combination of many factors.  For one, it was presented as a tool for student orgs, not the "new intranet" as I've heard it described.  I think it is also unclear that all EPs should join ESGA, even if they are not "on" student government.  It was not presented with any urgency, which may be appropriate since it is still in the early stages.

I agree that we should put it in the weekly reminders.  Other ideas:
-Send a similar email from ESGA requesting people to join
-Try to talk about it with peers
-Start using it for events, etc.  We can ask people to RSVP through OrgSync, for example.

I'll keep brainstorming...

i agree - the wording of the email was very strange... it was almost as if she was saying "if you are in a club or on ESGA, please join that club's group"
