Hi All,
How are you guys? i'm fine, i had this problem asked during a recent
interview at amplifymind:
It is said that u can play 2 audio files at the same time in windows.
But the same thing doesn't happen in Linux. Y?
I know this has something to do with device drivers. Can anyone answer
it?

Regards
Nimit

P.S : I have joined Patni in telecom Buisness unit as a sw engg

Hi nimit,
i think in linux we can play 2 audio files at d same time because it
works on application layer i think it depends on software i.e which
media player u r installing if that media player supports threading
then it is possible and linux always support multi threading...
Congrats 2 u 4 joing patni...party kab hai?hehehe
bubye tc n keep in touch

Hi Nimit,

May be because the DD written for the Hardware(i.e sound card) support servicing only one application or say one thread at a time, I mean may be I am not sure about that.

Bye for now,
Saurabh.

Now about what OS you are talking about, in Windows this is 100% possible and I cant see any issues in newer Linices why it shoud not play two audio files at the same time............

Hey people don't worry.... Linux is much better than windows and if this kind of small things will remain unnoticed what will be its use... It can play at a time two video files i had experienced that so i think it can play two mp3 files too. not sure.. don't know abt. threading, demons,etc... in this case. i will again try it on my home machine & get back to you..
What else are hot & happening issues let me know....
& if anybody wants participation certificate please ask for it in amplify they will keep it ready. I have taken that one....
I was also there with nimit on that day of interview..
People in amplify were trying to know about most of us.. who is where....but i have not disclosed the things don't worry..
Amplify had changed its setup of classroom & all. they had put the huge list of people got placed here & there. appeared for test etc.... They are still catching "BAKARAS" & "BAKARAS" used to get.
And also if somebody is knowing abt. any vacancies for embedded put it on our group.....it will really help....
Nimit my cmpany has got shifted from magarpatta.
we people can arrange meeting of all folks what do you think?
 Else is fine....

Bye..

here u go:-

http://ubuntu-in.org/wiki/Broadband_Howto

Go to the above mentioned link and follow the instructions.
And instead of "sudo" command login as root e.g use "su" to become the root.
Since in Ubuntu you will have to become root each time whenever you want to execute the system commands. But this is not required in other Linux distro.
So login either as root or switch to root using "su."

Hope it helps.

Bye,
Saurabh.

Hi All,

First of all, Happy Friendship Day!!!...

Secondly, I am not sure if I've told you this before but, I've left IBM and joined Morgan Stanley Mumbai.  I hope you know that it's a financial firm.  Here too, I am working in Java.  That was a good time to dream about getting in to Embedded, but I am simply not running after it.  Now I am not even bothered to get participation certificate.  But anyway, it was a nice experience, delicious food for our brains, however "a bit" costlier than it should be.

My new mobile number is 9833380966, I live somewhere in Malad west.  If anyone of you happen to visit mumbai, do give me a call, we'll try to meet.

Bye...take care...
Wasim
