Idon't really know if this belongs on these forums, but this is the only forums of games I am apart of. Plus I have posted some of my youtube videos on here (and I know some of you watch them, though I'm unsure how many of my views are derived from here!).
So I was recorded an episode of a new game (To the Rescue) for my youtube channel using my normal screen recorder, Flashback screen recorder. Everything seemed to go fine but I hadn't run a test recording before starting the video (a big rookie mistake I know). And when I went to export the game to a format I can use to upload it to youtube, I noticed that the video was a black screen.
The audio was fine, just the visuals were not there. A black screen was in their place. Now that is a big problem since this is a video, not a podcast. I didn't even know this could happen since I had only ever had problems with audio. I hadn't changed any graphics settings, and I had recorded Shelter 3, (another game I had just started playing recently), Niche, and Minecraft without any visual difficulties. (Though I had only ever recorded Minecraft on my laptop, not my desktop).
After doing some research, I found it is most likely an issue with the GPU the sxcreen recorder is recording on (I should be able to change either the one the game is running on or the one the recorder is recording on). Hardware Acceleration, (where the main CPU that usually processes everything kicks out part of the load to the GPU), which my current screen recording (and maybe no screen recorder?) doesn't support. Or recording settings that were set wrong for the game.
To fix this in the future I'm going to try a few things: recording in windowed or another screen mode besides full screen, turning off hardware acceleration, messing around in recorder and/or computer settings... It would help if you have any tips or ways to narrow down the list of things it might be.
I may also get another screen recorder. I have been generally happy with Flashback, but if this problem can be more easily alleviated by changing to a better screen recorder then I'm willing to make the switch. One of the ones on my list is OBS Studio. Does anyone have any experience with that screen recorder or know any other preferably free options that support Hardware Acceleration?
And I would prefer to be able to somehow recover the visuals from this recording, but I have already tried recovering it as if it was a corrupted file using FBRChecker. And exporting it to see if the problem was with the player. None of these worked. Does anyone know how to recover a black screen video where the audio was fine?
Last but not least, if I cannot manage to recover this, should I just start the series over, assuming I can get my screen recorder to record the game properly somehow? Or should I continue my current savefile? Since this video was my true first reactions to the game, should I upload just the audio, since I can't really re-record it like this never happened?
Just try a different recorder. Movavi worked for me. It is a good video editing software in general, so you can make some interesting content for your gameplay. Here's the Movavi Screen Recorder . It works for windows and Mac both. So click the link and try it out.
The FlashBack recorder is free and makes it easy to share to popular vide-sharing sites. Plus, it features an easy-to-use interface, making it a popular choice for users who need a simple yet effective screen-recording solution.
However, the top user experience element for FlashBack Express is its scheduled recording feature. This allows you to start your screen capture at a specific time and date or when launching a particular program.
The feature prevents you from recording yourself when starting the recorder or when you open a game or program you want to capture. You can also automatically stop the recording after a set period or when the program being recorded is closed to avoid the creation of massive, unmanageable video files.
Sharing your FlashBack Express videos on YouTube is a breeze, thanks to the direct YouTube upload feature. You can also save your files to Google Drive, DropBox, and to your computer to share however you need.
However, FlashBack Express only allows exports of MP4, AVI or WMV files. If you prefer to save your video in a different file format, you'll need a separate video-editing or conversion software. Also, worth noting is FlashBack Express has a video quality export cap of 720p.
Open FlashBack Express and select the area of the screen you want to record. You can choose to record the full screen or a specific region. Choose whether to record audio from your microphone or the system audio.
Click the Start recording button. When you're finished recording, click the Stop button. The recording can be found under the Videos tab on the main screen.
Over the years, there have been many screen recording software, but only a few have managed to remain the user's top choice. One such screen recorder is Flashback. The price of screen recording software or suite can go anywhere from $100 to over $1000. There are also many free screen recorders, but mostly they come with bugs, ads, watermarks, or lack essential features. However, the Flashback screen recorder is an affordable tool offering powerful tools, advanced features, and a user-friendly UI.
Designed by Blueberry (BB) Software, Flashback is a screen recording program boasting a plethora of amazing features. It allows you to record screen, audio, webcam - and that too, all simultaneously. Furthermore, you can add voice commentary, remove watermarks and save recorded videos in any format. One can use the Flashback screen recorder for any recording purpose, such as making demos, instructional videos, tutorials, training videos, various marketing videos, video lectures, video presentations, game recording, and so on.
The latest version of the Flashback recorder for Windows offers lightning-fast processing, quick export, scheduling, and more. The software is paid but offers a free trial for new users. It is available in two main versions, i.e., Flashback Express (free) and Flashback Pro (paid). FlashbackExpress is a free Windows screen recorder that allows you to record screens and make high-quality screencasts without expensive hardware.
You can choose different recording options for screencasts, like recording the whole screen, a specific section of the screen, or an active window. Then you will have to choose the desired audio input device. You can also enable webcam recording simultaneously to add facecam.
Once you have set your preferences and input devices, it is time to start recording. Select the region you want to record and use the on-screen dialogue box to configure additional settings. Once you initiate recording, a countdown will begin. The countdown will continue for as long as the screen is recorded.
Quickly save the video on your PC without any watermark. BB Flashback Express exports the recorded video to WMV format by default. However, the paid version allows you to save the video in any file format, including MP4, Flash, MOV, EXE, and GIF.
Flashback screen recorder also saves all the videos in a native FBR format. You should keep the FBR version of your recordings, as this file can be exported directly to YouTube anytime. You can also use it to save your videos offline if they get deleted. In other words, the FBR file is your project file, which can be used for editing, saving, and uploading your recorded video anytime.
You can playback the recording using the BB Flashback Player (automatically preinstalled with BB Flashback Express). This player comes with an editing suite, offering rudimentary editing features to help you enhance and manage the recorded videos.
By now you have probably realized why people opt for Flashback Express to get started with audio recording and streaming services. You can capture screen, audio, webcam simultaneously and even add commentary to improve the recording for the viewer's experience. It is free, user-friendly, and comes with some impressive features. The fact that it has no ads, watermark, and recording limit make it even more appealing.
