2018 January General Meeting Minutes


17th January 2018


Present: Cherie, Stephanie, Heather, Kim, Brian, Bryan, Caitlin, Ingrid, Mitchell

  • Events

    • Anniversary Dinner

      • Our next anniversary dinner will be our 70th in 2021

    • Grand Avenue Festival

      • We plan to continue the pancake breakfast. We want to have more of a rotating roster to balance out our available volunteers.

    • MFM Combined Event

      • We can discuss interest for this at our next social meeting

    • Parade

      • This will be our 68th parade. Ideas for the 2018 theme can be discussed at our next general meeting

    • Calendar

      • Set the events calendar for the next 2-3 months at each general meeting


  • Activities

    • Hike

      • Bryan will organise a SDRP hike for Sunday 25th March

    • Pi Day

      • We will bring forward our March general meeting to coincide with Pi Day, 14th March. Attendees can bring sweet or savoury pi/pie themed food to share.

    • Bake Off

      • We are interested in organising another bake off later in the year

    • Individual Development Topics

      • Public Speaking

      • History of Escondido Jaycees

        • Suggested Panel: Randy, Larry, Wally, Ed

      • Investing

        • Suggested: Chris Jungman

    • Community

      • We need more community service projects to wear our shirts and gain visibility in the community, preferably in Escondido

      • Cherie will reach out to nearby chapters and gauge interest in a group event

      • We hope to organise a wine tasting outing in Temecula

      • We will switch all memberships to first quarter renewals so we can send in one check each year

      • We will update our roster 1st March and pay dues before 31st March each year

      • We will continue to fundraise to help cover dues

      • Tshirts will be distributed at events as needed

    • Demographics

      • We could use growth in the 18-25 age range. Suggestion to approach local college students

    • We signed the transfer letter, Heather will take it to the bank, then Cherie and Stephanie will go in to become new check signers
