I'm trying to set my network printer 'Brother MFC-7360N' on my LAN. All laptops are using Ubuntu 14.04, and I've installed the cups and lpd drivers from Brother, but I can't print on LAN. The printer shows that I can add the printer, see the cartridge status, but when I send something to print nothing happens, and I get no warnings or errors. I've followed a lot of forums and posts but it's no good.
Brother's Linux support for this printer is a little sketchy. They have a "cupswrapper" driver for it which is sort of a compatibility layer around an ancient LPR driver. I honestly can't say how effective it will be.
I'm running Ubuntu and want to install my Brother MFC 7360N printer scanner fax. I've tried to just plug in the USB cable, but the only two drivers Ubuntu shows don't work. One of them doesn't react at all and the other prints only blank pages.
I wonder if the IP address changed on the printer. The IP address for the printer driver compensated for that, but scanner driver did not. Just a guess. Maybe lock that printer IP down with a reservation.
walk thru; win 7: start>search, type scanners & cameras, if mfc-7360n is showing, select it>properties>network settings>specify ip address,then scan to button tab>check register your pc with"Scan to button".. go to general tab, test scanner..should work.. good luck.. worked for me.. ip settings was wrong in my case.
I was also facing same issue, if you are unable to scan from your BROTHER Printer no need to worry about it. I just had this problem last night when I noticed there was some weird thing happening with my printer. I tried a lot to fix that however I was not able to fix that. Each hardware components needs to be installed through a driver. This is an application which comes as a zip file once you download for it to run the support functions of the printer. Just one driver coves all the function which include scanning, copying and downloading. You must unzip the file to access the executable file which you will run on the desktop to initiate the wizard and further follow instructions.
Was about to buy a new printer *today* when I stumbled upon an app in the Chrome Web Store called "WiFi printer driver for Chromebooks." I downloaded it, launched it, and it worked! I don't have to buy a new printer!
