me when i watch 13 episodes of recap only to watch the most lame ass plot ever on the last 2 eps, this was so balls i cant. i dont know who got chopped the most, rebuild asuka or higurashi 2020s satoko.
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, a visual novel released in 2002, changed the game for the anime horror genre. It's ongoing mystery encouraged fan participation between chapter releases, and the thoroughly developed characters captivated audiences enough to cultivate a dedicated fan base.
As a sequel/partial remake, it may be too ambitious for its own good. But I didn't personally mind the first half retreading the original question arcs, as there were just enough significant differences in how they were told to make them entertaining. Surely uncovering all these new mysteries they introduced will be satisfying. The direction was a bit amateurish and stiff at times, but the storyboards have been consistently great. The animation was good when it ultimately needs to be.
I genuinely do not understand how anyone can watch this and take it seriously. I'm a huge Higurashi fan, but with stuff like this and Outbreak, and even Kira (Don't watch Kira, don't. Just don't. Please), the series is getting worse and worse as it goes on. Gou is the worst of the ones considered canon.
