Hello all,

First I hope this is not perceived as spam or shameless self promotion. I suppose people interested in participating in SOCIS will be interested in Google Summer of Code, which is a similar program that is already ongoing and going to accept students soon.

In particular, OpenAstronomy, an umbrella organization that connects open source libraries for Astronomy and Astrodynamics, was selected as well and is looking forward to receiving students applications. Here is the list of ideas and projects for this year:

My project, poliastro, is participating through OpenAstronomy, but also SunPy and other organizations that took part in SOCIS. If you have any questions about OpenAstronomy and GSOC I invite you to join our chat:

Feel free to forward this email to as many people you like. The more student applications we get, the better.

Best regards,
