Several full prof positions in business analytics and decision sciences at WU Vienna

Dear all,

WU Vienna is establishing a new department in "Business Analytics and Decision Sciences" (https://www.wu.ac.at/en/bads/home), that will focus on "predictive and prescriptive analytics in support of data-informed strategic/managerial decision-making". The department is endowed with 6 new full professor positions, 6 new tenure track lines (which could all become full professorships), as well as a number of postdocs and a small PhD program. Our goal is to assemble a group of researchers that bring different, mutually inspiring perspectives to this field, and that complements the other WU departments and existing competencies in analytics, AI, and decision sciences.

For now, in a first batch, we are advertising 4 full professor positions. (The other two full prof, the tenure track and postdoc positions will be advertised later.)

Two of these positions have a more stats/ML/AI/computer science focus. The other two have a focus on  *decision science*, which includes algorithms and optimization but also experimental methods, game theory, and market design.

We think that WU offers an excellent environment for building up this new department, and it may be an exciting opportunity also for researchers in the ESA community. I personally hope for applications in the fields of behavioral/experimental economics, market design, and game theory, as such hires would greatly complement the current group of junior and senior researchers at WU and in Vienna at large in or adjacent to the field of decision sciences. And Vienna is a really beautiful, vibrant, livable city, which I hope makes these positions even more attractive.

Application deadline is 27 July 2025 for both calls. Since such hiring processes for full profs are bureaucratic and take time, fly-outs will likely be conducted in November.
