Dear Colleagues,

Prof Eoin O’Neill and Dr Finbarr Brereton at University College Dublin (Ireland) are looking for a PhD candidate with a background in economics, behavioural economics, environmental economics or environmental psychology to work on a project on "Flood Risk Perception and Climate Adaptation".  Closing Date for Applications: 17.00 GMT, March 11th, 2026

By way of background, the PhD will build upon previous research carried out at UCD Environmental Policy which integrated GIS to create geospatial data (distance from flood zone, distance from perceived flood zone, height above sea level etc) from digitised 'cognitive maps'. There is scope to develop the PhD study in various ways, including integrating different theoretical perspectives. We have a case study area in mind, but the scope of the project can be developed with the PhD candidate.

If you know any potential candidates that might be interested, they can find more information on the application process in the attachment and they can get in touch with Eoin and Finbarr for more information.
Informal enquiries: general: louise...@ucd.ie / topic specific: either eoin....@ucd.ie
or finbarr....@ucd.ie

Many thanks,

Dr Marta Talevi
