Dear ESA colleagues,

please find below the call for applications to the 4th edition of the

Spring School & Workshop on Behavioral Economics, Finance, and Management in Soleto (Apulia, Southern Italy)

April 30 – May 3, 2026

The event is organized by CIMEO (Centre for Investigation and Modeling of Experimental Observations), Sapienza University of Rome, with the financial support of Sapienza’s School for Advanced Studies (SSAS).

This year, what was previously the Summer School has been brought forward to the Spring, also in light of the increasingly high temperatures typically expected in Southern Italy during the summer months ;-)

As in the previous three editions, the School is conceived as four days in an unconventional university setting, with round tables, classes, and parallel lecture sessions designed for Master’s, PhD, and post-doctoral students. Up to 100 participants will have the opportunity to attend and discuss topics related to experimental methods, behavioral economics, finance, and management with around 60 renowned speakers, most of whom work in behavioral and experimental research:

A distinctive feature of this edition is our intention to further strengthen bridges between economics and related disciplines that make use of experimental methods, in particular finance and management, by introducing six interdisciplinary round tables on topics such as sustainability, responsible decision-making, and the behavioral dimensions of current social and economic challenges, together with an open discussion of the potential and limitations of AI in modeling, data analysis, and experimental work.

We hope this broader interdisciplinary focus will make the School and Workshop especially valuable for participants coming from neighboring research communities.

Each afternoon, a workshop will be held on the same broad themes. Students attending the School, as well as senior researchers, are warmly invited to submit an extended abstract for presentation at the Workshop.

The deadline to apply to the Spring School and/or to present a paper at the Workshop is April 10, 2026.

On behalf of the organizing team (Valerio Fedele Addis, Federico Atzori, Luca Corazzini, Angelica De Fabrizio, Alessandro Giovannitti, Michele Mariella, Luca Panaccione, Stefano Papa, Samuele Ridolfi, Maria Luigia Signore),

we very much look forward to welcoming you to Soleto!

Best regards,

Giuseppe
