Dear Colleagues,

The Centre for Economic Institutions and Business History, the Department of Economics, and the Department of Real Estate and Planning at the University of Reading are pleased to host the 9th annual conference “Contests: Theory and Evidence” on Thursday 22 June and Friday 23 June 2023. This year the keynote speaker is Prof Shmuel Nitzan, Bar-Ilan University, Israel.

We cordially invite theoretical, experimental, and empirical work on any aspect of contests including but not limited to economics, management, politics, psychology, sports, biology, neuroscience, computer science, etc. Please visit the conference webpage to submit your paper and for further details: https://research.reading.ac.uk/economics/event/the-9th-annual-conference-contests-theory-and-evidence/

Note that:

1.      The submission deadline is March 27, 2023. This year the deadline is set earlier to give enough time for participants to apply for British visas, in case they need one.

2.      The conference will be held in an in-person format at the University of Reading, UK.

3.      There is no registration fee for the conference, but to either present or to join as an audience, you will need to register beforehand on the conference website.

4.      University of Reading is hosting 2 other events in that week. On Monday and Tuesday (June 19 and 20) they are hosting Diversity in the workplace conference, whereas on Wednesday (June 21) they will host the Reading Experimental and Behavioural Economics Workshop. Moreover, the ESA world congress will start next Monday in France. So, it may be possible for you to combine the travel.

In case of any further query, please contact Joo Young Jeon (j.j...@reading.ac.uk) or  Subhasish M. Chowdhury (subhasish...@sheffield.ac.uk).
