Subject: ESA Mentoring Program 2024-2026 Cohort Application Open (Due Sept 21, 2024)
To: <esa-an...@googlegroups.com>
Dear colleagues,
To address the issue that junior experimentalists, especially women, typically do not have a senior mentor in experimental economics in their home department, the ESA Executive Committee voted to set up a mentoring program in 2014, modeled after the NSF CeMENT workshop for female assistant professors. The goal is to help junior women achieve tenure and become leaders in their field. We have graduated three cohorts (2015-19; 2020-22; and 2022-24), and are about to start a new cohort (2024-26). We are writing to invite applications for the 2024-2026 cohort.
Eligibility: Female experimental economists (postdoc, assistant professors, or equivalent) within 3 years from their PhD (conferred between May 1, 2021 - September 1, 2024).
Note: Graduate students are NOT eligible. If you are already in the AEA/NSF CeMENT program, please do NOT apply so others might have the opportunity.
Application: Please click the link to the Google Forms application. You will need to (i) upload a copy of your CV, (ii) nominate up to five senior women close to your area of research, and (iii) upload one paper.
Deadline: September 21st, 2024.
Expectations: We expect to have 1-2 senior mentors for each group of 6-8 junior women. Group members are expected to read and comment on each other’s working papers or grant proposals monthly and continue supporting each other until everyone is tenured. In other words, this program requires a significant commitment. Please do NOT apply if you are not willing to help others in your group.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Erin Krupka & Yuliet Verbel
