We are advertising a 6-year PhD position (Teaching and Research Associate) at the WU Vienna Institute for Markets and Strategy, starting 1 September 2026.

We are looking for candidates with interests in experimental/behavioral economics, game theory, behavioral market design, machine learning/AI.

WU offers an excellent environment for pursuing a PhD in these fields. Our group includes 10+ junior and senior researchers in behavioral economics and psychology. Vienna also hosts a large behavioral and experimental economics community, including researchers at WU Vienna, U Vienna, and CEU. PhD courses can be taken across all Vienna universities. WU Vienna has a modern campus, a large laboratory infrastructure comprising 4 labs, and provides generous conference travel budgets for PhD students. Lastly, Vienna is a vibrant and very livable city, very welcoming to international researchers.

The position pays a gross salary of EUR 2832, 14 times per year, and comes with a teaching component of 22.5 contact hours (2SWS) per term.
