Dear all,

We are looking for two doctoral candidates who would like to work on research in the field of behavioral energy economics.

💡 Research topics:

Position 1: “Smart contracts for household demand response”
This PhD project aims to assess the appropriate design aspects of markets for energy flexibility; to design several flexibility-related contracts; to test flexibility-related contracts in economic laboratory experiments. This position includes a  3-month non-academic secondment at the Lithuanian distribution system operator AB ESO. 

Position 2: “Determinants of household demand response”
This PhD project aims to develop choice and (or) survey experiments to assess what promotes and hampers demand response among different electricity consumers; to conduct choice and (or) survey experiments in Lithuania, Germany, Poland, and Sweden to identify factors that encourage household DR in countries with different cultural backgrounds and social norms.  This position includes a  3-month non-academic secondment at the Lithuanian distribution system operator AB ESO. 

Supervisory team: Prof. Jurate Jaraite, Prof. Andrius Kazukauskas, Prof. Robertas Zubrickas.


Location: Vilnius University, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Lithuania

Start date: 1 September 2026 (or shortly thereafter)

Duration: 36 months
Monthly gross salary: approx. EUR 4182 (incl. mobility allowance)
