Hello all,

Gambit: The package for computation in game theory (https://www.gambit-project.org) is participating as a Google Summer of Code 2026 mentoring organisation (https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/).  GSoC is a long-running programme that offers students the opportunity to contribute to open source software and get paid for doing so.

We have several project ideas this year which are relevant to experimental/behavioural game theory (see https://www.gambit-project.org/gsoc_2026/ for the full list).  These include in particular work to develop the documentation, testing, and extension of Gambit’s facilities for econometric estimation (quantal response, cognitive hierarchy, EWA, and/or other models a student might be interested in).

Of course all of our project ideas are interesting - students can also contribute to our development of our new tools for making paper-ready renderings of extensive games, or developing user-interface tools for working with our models for specifying games using natural language, both of which could be quite useful for experimentalists.

If you know of any students who might be interested and suitable, please point them our way!  Students can contact us now; formal applications to the programme by students start from 16 March.

Best,

Ted Turocy and Rahul Savani
