we are currently advertising 9 PhD positions at the WU Vienna Department of Economics. These are 4 years positions, starting September 1, 2026. The Department of Economics offers a structured PhD program (https://www.wu.ac.at/en/economics/study/phd-label-economics). The minimum monthly gross salary for the position amounts to €2,832.08 (14 times per year)

WU provides a great environment for pursing a PhD in behavioral and experimental economics with a large laboratory infrastructure comprising 4 labs (https://www.wu.ac.at/exp/wulabs) and a generous conference travel budget for PhD students. Vienna hosts a large and still growing behavioral and experimental economics community, including senior and junior researchers at WU Vienna, U Vienna, and CEU.  

Application deadline is February 25, 2026. Interviews will be conducted online and German skills are not necessary (but a plus).
