Call for Papers: Special Issue of the Journal of Economic Psychology on
INNOVATIONS IN SURVEY DESIGN AND DATA COLLECTION
Recent developments in survey methods open new avenues for reliably and affordable data collection. Survey data are also increasingly used to generate identifying variation when natural or lab experiments are not appropriate. However, improper data collection practices can undermine the effectiveness and reliability of research designs, and the elicitation of psychological and economic variables can be affected by question wording, anchoring effects, and measurement error. Addressing these challenges is crucial to ensure the reliability and validity of survey-based research in economics and psychology. This special issue welcomes empirical articles testing or validating new ways of using surveys to generate high-quality data allowing for a better understanding the drivers of economic decisions including attitudes, beliefs, tastes, perceptions, preferences, intentions, and expectations. Topics include, but are not limited to, survey experiments, analysis of response and non-response behavior, AI use in surveys, innovative survey methods, measurement error, and the integration of survey data and other data sources.
