At the Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Economics in Bonn (formerly named Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods), we have an open call for PhD-student positions. Please find the details below:
🎓 We are hiring PhD students and invite applications from highly motivated candidates with a strong interest in behavioral and experimental economics, as well as economic design. The positions are jointly offered with the Cologne Graduate School of Management, Economics and Social Sciences (CGS) at the University of Cologne.
🧠 Successful applicants will join either the research group of Axel Ockenfels or Matthias Sutter and will be part of the International Max Planck Research School on Behavioral Economics and Economic Design (IMPRS Econ). PhD students benefit from an international research environment, regular seminar series with excellent external speakers, and close integration both at the institute and at the Economics Department of the University of Cologne.
🌍 In addition, there is the option for successful applicants to work on the scientific evaluation of the Malengo program. Malengo supports high-achieving high school graduates from Uganda in pursuing university studies in Germany, and the accompanying research focuses on educational choices, constraints, and long-term outcomes. This option is particularly suited for candidates interested in field experiments, education, development, and policy-relevant research.
