FWIW, you don't pay extra for Comcast/Xfinity email services. If you don't see it as a line item it's just something Comcast/Xfinity gives you for free. You're also free to use any other email service you'd like, such as Gmail, Yahoo! email, outlook.com, etc.
Comcast has live email addresses at both comcast.com and comcast.net. The difference is, comcast.net email addresses are reserved for customers of Comcast/Xfinity, while comcast.com addresses are reserved for employees of Comcast.
A while ago I posted a full breakdown of Comcast domains, but I thought it would be good to call this out more explicitly today -- regular joe users signing up for your emails using the email address that comes free with their Comcast Xfinity cable service? That's always going to be comcast.net.
Some platforms will even block signups from emails at comcast.com, because most of those signups are typos -- people who typed comcast.com when they should have typed comcast.net if they wanted to give their correct email address. Blocking these attempts can be a bit of an imperfect solution, as there are indeed valid email addresses at comcast.com -- it's just that they're going to be Comcast employees, not customers.
I have changed my primary Comcast account name (and therefore my email account also) and would like to change the email account associated with my old forum account and profile. I would like to be able to sign in as my new Comcast account name and have my old forum account info, subscriptions, posting, etc.
When I login to the Community Forums with my old Comcast account name and password I get my original forum account and profile. Then if I select My Settings it shows I can change my email address. I enter in my new Comcast account email address (twice) and click on Save. It sends me an email message (to the new email address) and I click on the link in the email which opens a new tab in the browser that says my email address has been verified.
If I login with the old email account name it shows my original forum profile, but it ALSO SHOWS THE OLD ORIGINAL EMAIL ADDRESS TOO! The new email address I had changed it to it now reset back as if I NEVER made a change....
Thank you so much for posting your questions. My name is Jessie and I am the Xfinity Forum administrator and am happy to address your concerns. I believe if I am reading this right you both would like to modify your Xfinity Forum login credentials (email address you use to login). Unfortunately, there is a limitation in the platform our forum is on that will not allow email changes to be permanent. This means you can make the modification to the email you use to login with, but as soon as you log out those changes will revert back to the original email.
The only option that you have if you would like to use a completely new email with your forum username, you must start a new username with the new login credentials/username of your choosing. If you would like to know more about registering for the Xfinity Forum see here: -Started/Getting-Started-in-the-Xfinity-Help-amp-Support-Forum/td-p/2618380
What is actually strange about this is that you have an option to change the email account used in the first place. There is no mention on that screen that such a change is only TEMPORARY and the account used will revert back as soon as you logout. And I say strange because why allow such a temporary change when no one stays logged in very long in the first place. It seems the only people that would stay logged in very long at all would be the moderators, not your normal forum user. And why change it if it won't stay changed, forcing you to use the original email account every time you login. Just seems like a point of confusion and not an option to help anyone at all.
Once you input your Comcast credentials (email and password), Comcast's backend servers tell Lithium's servers that you have been authenticated and to send you to the correct corresponding Xfinity Forum profile. This is done so your personal information is never shared outside the Comcast organization.
If the email on the XfinityUsernamee is changed, we would have to share your Comcast account information with Lithium for that change to remain permanent on their servers. We simply do not want to share your account information.
For this reason, if you would like to use another email address to log into the forum with, we recommend registering a new username with that new email. If you would like, I can even switch the usernames for you. The old username with the old email can be changed so it is the one you would use with the new email. All I would need from you is a private message with the following information:
Hi. I've got 2 comcast email addresses and want to add a 3rd. I hit Add Mail Account and it asks for my "Mail Address" and my password. Is that my *existing* address that I want to add to? Or the *new* one I want to add? Tried both ways and each time I get "Auto configuration failed. Do you want to configure your account manually?"
If you're using the Xfinity Connect webmail via a browser, the email address you want to add is what you should be entering as the mail address and password. You can click on the Settings icon (gearbox, upper right) and then select Accounts to see those acount names, server name and other stuff of the current email accounts you have. That should give you a clue as to what to add for the new one, assuming it is another existing Comcast account that you know the password to.
If you're trying to create a new Comcast email address period, this is not the process. To create a new email account you log into your Comcast account and select 'Users' where you can create a new one which creates a new email account/address as well.
I am a new customer. how did you set up your second email address? I am having problems because I need to add 4-5 more email addresses to my personal account. I have tried to follow the directions xfinity has but it is not working.
no. it did not work. basically, I gave up and went to google and created several more, and along with the one that Xfinity gave me and my cloud email and my original google address I may have enough. I am not even going to use xfinity as my main email provider. I use MAC mail. so I have already linked all those new google email addresses to mac mail and I have linked the Xfinity email to my MAC mail. thanks for trying to help me. ?
I messed up... I made a spotify premium account for a friend of mine attached to mine as a family plan... problem is I used the format first...@comcast.net and their actual address doesn't have the dot in the middle of it. I signed in to their account on spotify and tried to change it to the correct one, but apparently they already had a free account under that address.
I use gmail addresses, and can add random periods in the name first.last@gmail and f.irstlast@gmail all come through to my account the same way, i can also add +anything at the end of the name, too like "first.last+website@gmail" and it comes through the same way.. this is useful because all my family uses my address without the dot in it and all my work stuff get the dot between my names and any website i use that address for gets the "+website" added to it so i know if it gets sold to advertisers..
trying to outsmart spotify and redirect to the correct address for my friend. They've got a yahoo account to that I'll end up using if there's no alternative, but they NEVER check that and probably wouldn't even think to if they needed to again in the future.
I know this will not be an easy task, but a friend informed me that he used a service that emailed everyone who ever emailed him at a college email address to notify them of his new email address. I have searched online for days and cannot find what he was talking about.
My original account is with Comcast, and contacts are not automatically saved (unlike Gmail which saves every contact that I email to "other" to await proper filing). Anyone have some ideas? Obviously I could send a message to everyone in my contacts - but I only have about 20 saved.
I havent tested this and its not the easiest, but it could get the job done. Its also not exact instructions, but more a suggested way of achieving what you are after. (This also would only work if you can access your comcast email via imap. )
You could potentially do this with the to: field instead of the from: field aswell. Its not a great method as you have the backup all your emails which could take some time, but at least you dont have to manually go through all the emails :p
As the new Xfinity brand was developing and improving on its value proposition, the subsidiary shifted its focus from their email service to more prospective areas. As a result, the Comcast.net email app was discontinued.
Nevertheless, this change hasn't pushed subscribers away from the email service. Comcast's customers have used its email for many years and chose it due to a range of useful in-built functions. What are they? Let's have a look.
If you successfully navigate the steps mentioned above, you will have to input an existing email address to receive a verification link.
After clicking the link, your Xfinity account is all set up, and you can access your Comcast.net email.
Since April 2021, Xfinity no longer supports access to its mobile email app. However, you can still access your Comcast.net email through Xfinity's official website. Here are the steps for checking your inbox using the Xfinity website.
