I don't want to update to the pro version of smart defrag and I don't want to have the smart defrag update message nagging me to update it each time windows starts. I am content with the defrag contained in ASCU. So, how do I disable this update message?
Download https://bltlly.com/2yVTve
found a way that works --right click the shortcut (in this case driver booster because i don't have smart defrag installed) open file location find AutoUpdate.exe. use the program IObit Unlocker (it's free) and rename the file to something like AutoUpdate.exe.bak so it will never run. but you can still use the check for updates manually to update all iobit programs
"I have been using Iobit products for a good many years now. Because I am running an older machine with 6 drives, including 2 external, I find that Iobit's "Smart Defrag Pro" has served me very well. Being an older machine,, my computer system tends to become fragmented quite easily. Having My "Smart Defrag Pro" set to auto defrag, and running a "Defrag and Optimize" once a week, keeps my system running smooth and well. Iobit is constantly upgrading and striving to make the product even better as time goes by. I am well pleased with this product."
"I run a combination of RAID 0 SSDs and RAID 0 HDDs and use Smart Defrag Pro to analyse, defrag and keep my drives running at peak performance. As with all IObit software it is easy to install, use and very reliable. Just set it up and forget it. Smart Defrag has a very small memory foot print so it won't slow down your system. Definitely recommended!"
5. restart in Vista to check if files were moved from other drives into C by smartdefrag or by any other software.( in that process, I deleted few thousand files left over by various programs after uninstall and also other files, like 'google earth' cache which was around 500MB).

My point earlier was that packing everything together would neither prevent nor add to fragmentation. Additionally, its difficult and time-consuming to try to maintain that configuration (been there, done that, with custom defrag scripting).
As you can see from my screenshots in the aforementioned thread in my previous post, in the beginning of XP era, the best defragmentation is ment, all the files should be contiguous without any space in between and the placement of the folders and certain system files should have been in certain locations of the HD. all the well known defraggers done nearly the same thing, call it Diskeeper, PerfectDisk, or any other utility program using contig.exe of Sysinternals (Not MS at that time).
At that time SSD were not used and smart placement of the files were not used. Even Zoned-Bit Recording was not taken into consideration. US journal files of todays OSes are defragmentable online, but they were not at XP's time and so on.
BTW, if the best defragmentation algorithm was known, there wouldn't be many defragmenters. It does differ for the users with different habbits, different usage logics, different hardware, etc. anyway.
\nWith the improved IObit disk defrag engine, Smart Defrag not only defrags your HDD but also trims your SSD to accelerate disk access speed and enhance disk durability. And Smart Defrag specially optimized the file organization algorithm on Windows 10. To make it more powerful, Smart Defrag 6 also delivers several other useful features. Boot Time Defrag can defrag Windows registry to release more occupied RAM and ensure the system stability while you can customize Boot Time Defrag as per your needs. Meanwhile, Auto Defrag and Scheduled Defrag ensure your disks are always optimized to their top performance. Furthermore, Game Optimize is designed to offer gamers ultra-smooth gaming experience. The last but not the least, Disk Health can help you monitor your disk status in real-time.","thumbnailUrl":" -ed05-4f03-9f95-1b1f981fc2e7/imgingest-17931257210934032011.png?auto=webp&fit=crop&height=675&width=1200"},"name":"Smart Defrag","applicationCategory":"Utilities & Operating Systems","applicationSubCategory":"System Utilities","image":null,"description":"Smart Defrag is a reliable, stable, yet easy-to-use disk optimizer designed for peak hard drive performance. It throws recommendations for other programs at you at every turn. Still, it makes up for that pestering with performance that rivals most defrag programs for Windows.
This program tries to replace Windows' default defragmentation widget by being more advanced and offering more style, features, and customizations. We're not kidding about replacing, either -- the program will turn off your usual defragmenter and install other programs if you don't uncheck those options during install, so be careful. Once you have Smart Defrag 3 installed, you'll be very happy with its futuristic layout that offers some customization and a nice hard drive map that is a delight to read. It lets you set automatic and boot time defrags, as well -- but you might want to program those to happen when you're not using your computer, as the program took upwards of 30 minutes to defrag when we tested it. It was smart enough to recognize our SSD and not defrag it, though. The program has an \"action center\" that claims to recommend performance fixes, but they are all just recommendations for other programs made by the app's developers.

The Windows default defragmentation tool is made by Perfect Disk and the version in Windows Vista is set to automatically defrag all disks on the computer without any option to do otherwise. What sent me looking for a better defrag program was that the Vista defrag program would redundantly defrag my WD My Book 1TB Drive with 100's of Gigabites worth of stored files on it with no option to skip it thus wasting hours upon hours of system resources.
The benchtest results below show a 4.6% increase in the average transfer rate of my main hard drive as well as an improvement in access time, burst rate and a 44% drop in CPU usage as compared with the same benchtests done prior to defrag and optimization using the truly amazing and highly effective IObit Smart Defrag...
Well if you gained 1.9GB of free space, then a theory would be that after the defrag, your files(data)were optimized and consolidated leaving you with more free space.Though I must admit,I've never seen any significant gain in drive space from a defrag. Are you sure of this? Have you deleted any programs that you forgot about? The report generated by SD only shows the size of the partition and the amount of free space. There are no comparative numbers available as in a before/after pertaining to free space.
