I resolved this issue with my Brother MFC-L3710CW unit by logging into the machine and changing the TLS setting to 1.1/1.2. (192.168.... in web browser). It works with Dropbox Brother app now. It's always work for the MS OneDrive Brother app. You will need your units password to login to the administrator side of the Brother unit. Find it on the rear of the unit by the power cord input. Hope this helps!

Is this using a funciton that's built-in to the scanner? If so, you'll need to reach out to Brother for assistance. Brother would have created their own connection to Dropbox using the Dropbox API, and only Brother would be able to support that.

Suddenly, scan to web into Dropbox didn't work anymore. Connection Error 03 on the display as soon as the scan usually is uploaded to Dropbox. Multiple MFC printers in different networks have the same issue. No network or printer setting was changed.
On one device I created a new Dropbox connection resulted in the same error at the end.

I'm having the exact same issue. Discovered it first last night, an hour or so before @hemzet wrote his last message here. Connection Error 03 saving to Dropbox, no settings changed. Using a Brother DCP-9020CDW. Internet says it's because of proxy settings, but all other features works just fine, including printing via wifi.

I attempted Brother's suggestion now and removed everything Dropbox from my DCP-9020CDW, and set up the account again (also restarted the printer inbetween). Same result. I've also made sure that I had the latest printer firmware installed before trying this. There are no automatic updates performed on my printer.

I would also guess something server related as mentioned above (I have no facts to back it up with though, basing it on the similar issue when the printer's Scan-to-email stopped working since Office365 stopped supporting TLS 1.0 in favour of TLS 1.2 ^^; )

After many contacts with Brother support and hearing "it works for us" all the time, I finally received a message from Brother support that the issue could be reproduced and now is under investigation... Nothing we can do so far.

I have a Canon Pixma printer/scanner. I'm trying to scan something and an error message comes out. It keeps saying "can not communite with scanner for these reasons: USB cable is disconnected. Scanner is turned off".

Hi Sadharlow,

Welcome to the Canon forum! So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know what model printer you are using. Any other details you'd like to give will only help the Community better understand your issue. Try uninstalling the MG3500 Series MP Drivers, IJ Network Tool and IJ Scan Utility from the computer. Once this has been done, make sure that a USB cable is not connected to the printer. Then download and install the latest MG3500 series MP Drivers from our website. You can access the latest downloads at the following link:

I just bought a Canon MG6821 printer/scanner. Although the Best Buy salesperson assured me that it "should be easy" to set it up, I spent an hour on the phone with a Geek Squad person. He got it set up wirelessly. I can print from my iMac (running Yosemite) and from my new iPad Pro. Today I discovered that I cannot scan. The computer cannot find the scanner and vice versa. Another hour online with the Geek Squad was of NO help. They suggest that someone come to my home. For a brand new device! Before I return it, any help would be appreciated. I am a senior citizen who needs EASY directions if there is a fix.

I was NOT able to scan. I called the Tech Support number and a WONDERFUL agent named Nick had me go through a bunch of things untl he discovered that the fix was relatively simple (now, after a total of over 2.5 hours on the phone with Best Buy...). The scanner LAN setting was for my 2G Wi-Fi network and my computer was set to the 5G network. For some reason, the printer communicated with my iMac, but not the scanner. Now everyone is speaking to each other! Thank you, Nick!

I only use drivers from Microsoft. For Windows 10 that is a 32-bit driver from 2006 that uses ksthunk.sys. That is probably the problem. I'm not sure why Microsoft is not using a current 64-bit driver to support Canon MG3620. I assume because that is what works best with Canons firmware?

I have a new mac laptop (first mac). My printer/scanner is a Canon MX452. The printer shows up in my list of printers in System Preferences "Printer & Scanners" and I can print from my Mac to the printer. I've got the printer set up and working. However, the same device is also a scanner, but it does not list itself as one there and gives no scan option.

I downloaded the scan driver from the Canon website, and I have "Canon IJ Scan Utility" in my applications. I can open that, but when I try to scan it says Scanner is turned off or USB cable is disconnected. My scanner is on, but I don't have the computer attached to it with a cable. I want to wirelessly scan (just like I can print).

I can print wirelessly from my Mac, but my Pixma MX522 scanner doesn't work since I downloaded Catalina. I downloaded the software Canon IJNetwork Tool 4.7.2 and Quick Menu 2.8 with no effect. Where to go, what to do? Thanks.

I just purchased a Canon Pixma G7020 and have set it up wirelessly. I have been able to print from my computer but not scan. I downloaded the Scanner Utility and tried to set it up. It's not recognizing the scanner. I get the same message as mentioned in earlier posts.

I tried to scan directly from the printer/scanner itself, using the panel, but that requires saving a scanned image to the computer. Since the machine doesn't work wirelessly, the only save option requires me to connect the machine via a USB cable rather than wirelessly.

Needless to say this is frustrating! Part of why I bought this printer was that I read that many things could be done using web-based software rather than the hard-to-read panel. But if the software doesn't work, that the option is not viable.

If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication and to make sure the correct driver is used. Click the name of your printer, then click the minus sign to delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, then continue to the next step.

If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, make sure the printer is connected to the Mac with a USB cable, or that it is on the same wired or wireless network as your Mac.

Thank you so much this worked even though I had the opposite problem. My printer said it was "offline", but the scanner worked just fine. After hours of tearing my hair out yesterday, I don't know why I didn't google search this problem earlier. What a relief! Thanks again!!!

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e remains one of the easiest printers to set up. With its high-yield cartridges, it quickly prints crisp text documents and glossy photos at an affordable cost of 2.4 per page in black or 8.8 per page in color.

Upgrade to a business-oriented color laser AIO like the Brother MFC-L3780CDW if your work finds you printing and scanning all day, every day. It prints and scans more quickly, sharply, and reliably than inkjet alternatives.

All-in-one (AIO) inkjet printers are a one-stop shop for home document-production needs. But they may not be right for everyone. Inkjets have been known to dry out and clog if they sit idle for too long between uses, and to get them going again you need to run cleaning cycles that waste ink and drive up your operating costs.
