Today Malwarebytes started blocking a website that I believe is the the update site for Logitech devices. And then Logitech keeps opening more and more tasks until it uses up all the CPU resources. I couldn't figure out why everything was running so slow and then I saw that I was at 100% usage and it was because there were about 10 updater.exe tasks running. This is what is being blocked. I pretty much confirmed that this is the Logitech updater. I opened the logitech software and then clicked on check for updates and I got an immediate block notification.
This problem started for me today as well. I went and ended each updater.exe in my task manager and so far none other have been started. I also selected "update" in the popup menu when right clicking on the Malware icon = which did have an update. I have no idea if this actually permanently corrected the problem or not, but so far I haven't had other issues with my pc
Had the same issue starting last evening around 7 PM eastern. I stopped all of the updater.exe tasks and things were fine. I see that a Malwarebytes tech had updated (added) an allowed URL to the system. Seems that 'so far so good'.
I see that this post was back in August but I just had this happen to me as well but in a different file. It detected Trojan:Win32/Bearfoos.A!ml in C:\Program Files (x86)\Arturia\Arturia Software Center\updater.exe after installing the latest ASC version (2.7.1.2466) today. Anyone else come across this latest iteration?
Or if it is too late in Task Manager you can open a command windows Win+R type cmd, click okay or press enter, then type dir \updater.exe /s and wait. If you get a hit then you can use File Explorer for navigating to the directory and get file specific details.
Originally developed by Moodlogic, updater.exe is a legitimate file process that is associated with Moodlogic Application. It is located in C:\Program Files by default.
updater.exe virus is created when malware authors write virus files and name them after updater.exe with an aim to spread virus on the internet.
Affected Platform: Windows OS
View of 1 of the 2 Certificates, both are not trusted and both have a name that includes TEST. Strange I did do one update when I loaded software about a month ago. But now as you can see Microsoft does not have certificates associated with the intuitupdater.exe as trusted.
Are you saying all yours say this when checking file properties? Right Click- Properties- Digital Signatures-Details-View Certificate "This CA Root Certificate is not Trusted"? If if they do and they still run without a warning you may have UAC set not to notify you when apps make changes? The program trying to execute is intuitupdater.exe (has the r on the end) However there is a program in that directory that is just intuitupdate.exe, but that is not what is attempting to run.
Ever since the 1.17 update caves and cliffs part 1 was released, I could not sign in for some reason, then I tried searching for other things to help but didn't come across anything that works. I also seemed to notice the same cycle happening again and again, I did the installer, it started of fine, but then it suddenly says "The file updater.exe is not marked for installation" and I am wondering what is updater.exe and why it is causing so much problems on my computer. One theory is that I have not upgraded to windows 11, but I have checked and it probably does not matter, it's just that it will be 1.17.5 on windows 11. Then the installer just annoyingly ends and I haven't been able to play Minecraft ever since the problem began. I installed desktop version so that might be why but I cannot find Minecraft Edu on Microsoft store it does not have the app so it is just frustrating. Please fix this because I want to go back to playing once again.
I am on a windows 7 desktop but here is how I fixed that issue.
I uninstalled Minecraft, and whenever I would try to install the new version I would get the same error. So, I went to a hidden folder called C:\ProgramData and deleted the Microsoft Studios subfolder. When I ran the installer again, updater.exe did not cause a fatal crash to the installation. I don't know if it will work for you, just telling you what worked for me.
To explain further my issue once I click updater.exe the administration UAC window pops up for confirmation upon clicking yes there's a blank icon that pops up on my taskbar for a split second, and then disappears. The same thing happens to me when I click the ragemp_v.exe as well. There's no task in the task manager, there's not crash error, there's no crash log that I know of. The farthest I've gotten is when I click "Troubleshoot compatibility" on ragemp_v.exe I get a window popup of the message "FATAL ERROR: Could not start RAGE Multiplayer". I hope ya'll can assist me as I have a major hankering to Roleplay with ya'll.
Thanks for you assistance! After uninstalling the Rockstar games launcher, and reinstalling it from their website It hasn't worked. I have both Steam, and Rockstar Launcher opened, and neither ragemp_v.exe, nor updater.exe work, with the same issue. Very strange situation.
