Camtasia studio is currently only available for the Microsoft Windows platform and can be processor intensive when working with recordings. The user is able to capture video of anything on their computer screen (microphone and webcam input as well), and then edit and produce high-quality clips in many different file formats with a smart, quick to learn, and feature-rich interface.

Camtasia is available for use in the ID&D Faculty Development Studio (AC221) and the ID&D Faculty Development Recording Studios (AC221A and AC221B). If you would like to have Camtasia installed on your office computer, you will need to coordinate with your department to purchase the software.

I watched the available tutorials about this topic, but my efforts to solve this problem were to no avail.
I want to screen record a session in Nuendo with the latest Camtasia recorder. I think I do understand how the routing in TotalMix FX works but whatever I try, there is no audio signal available to record in Camtasia.
When I playback a YT video or playback something from Soundcloud etc.. everything works fine and the audio signal is there.

In the windows sound settings, Analog 1+2 is the default playback device and Analog 3+4 the default recoring device. I swapped both but still no sound in Camtasia.
Loopback is activated on every hardware output channel I use.

Checking out Camtasia
on Mac M1 BigSur
Screenrecording works fine, without interface connected. No routing no settings, but during installation I was forced to give a lot permissions and also allowed to install an additional helper software for the audio capturing of microphone or system sound.
I assume in Windows you have to do the same.
Did it instal such a software ?
May you have to delete the software and run the installer exe again and ensure to allow the special software to get installed.

No, when I click on record there is no such popup window. It immediately starts recording.
Hmm, I start to believe that v2021 is the issue and this makes me want to uninstall it and intall 2020 again

I've tried Camtasia, and have the same problem as yours, WDM + loopback seems to be useful in some systems, but not suit all. My camtasia only indicated system audio with meters, but no DAW inputs.
I have tried all the methods in OBS too, none of it worked.

Sorry, I somehow dont get notified when new posts arrive.
I tried what you suggested but without any luck. Ive contacted Camtasia and waiting for their reply.
Thanks everyone for your kind support! Ill post back here as soon as the issue is solved.

You're welcome, I knew Camtasia and used it for awhile, but that was several years ago, then I've got a chance to use OBS, it was opened my eyes. Few days before this post, I've purchased an UFX+ and Elgato Cam link pro(Video capture card), I was trying to make some video, but struggling with Inputs issue, when I've figured out finally, I saw your post, then I've installed Camtasia to see if it fits the same method, but no luck, so I preferred OBS.

Thanks! Im looking forward to your post.
I contacted Techsmith and while I was waiting for their reply, I checked again all my Windows settings and gave the permission to activate the Microphone. This worked (thanks to @waedi, see post #4!!) and finally, the Camtasia recorder got the audio signal from my DAW.
But Im still not sure if that is the proper way to be honest. Shouldnt the audio signal from my DAW be routed to the windows sound system?!...

However, now I have the next problem. I can record my DAW session with Camtasia but the audio is stuttering all the time so that it is impossible to work with.
Techsmith support contacted me, I sent them all the specs from my computer and this is their answer:

Thank you for providing that information. Unfortunately, this is one of a few issues that relate to using external audio interfaces. Camtasia was initially designed around utilizing a simple USB connected microphone for audio input. As time has passed, we've seen users with more advanced setups, incorporating external soundcards, mixing boards, and breakout boxes. With a lot of these devices, the signal is being passed into the computer in a way that Camtasia is not set to properly "listen" for. This can result in audio coming in over only a single channel (L/R), garbled/distorted audio, or no recording whatsoever.

I just installed OBS Studio and made a first test recording. It really performs much better. I had two audio dropouts during the 5 minutes of recording but no comparison to Camtasia. And I didnt even had to setup any audio settings.
Thanks @smpiggy for the recommendation! I will look closer at the audio settings to eliminate the stuttering completely and then might make the transition.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Yes, its really a shame. Their support is giving me only advices how to update my drivers or optimize some settings for audio. Nothing helps of course. My system is already optimized for audio production, they even suggested to not use my RME interface but try an usb plug & play usb interface, whatever this is supposed to be..
Really disappointed, I asked them to close the ticket because they cant do anything to help. I also felt that they dont want to admit that the problem is their product and not my system.
But yeah, Im moving to OBS studio and it looks good so far.

The problem is when I render out animations in Enscape on my new machine it does not work with my video editing software on my machine, I use Camtasia studio or Vegas pro. I get a warning that the file is not valid, however if I send the mp4's to my old machine using the exact software it works just fine. I am assuming something on my new machine is screwing up with the codecs, have y'all ever heard of this issue? I know it's not an Enscape issue, just wanted to know if y'all may have some advice.

Hmm, something is not right, I just created an animation with Lumion which also exports to .mp4 and it works with both Camtasia and Vegas on the new machine, so it must be an Enscape issue? but how? I do not understand the logic here, gremlins today.

I am experiencing the same issue with the most recent version. The enscape mp4 is not recognized by camtasia 2018, other mp4s yes. Only workaround is to recode the enscape video with camtasia to same res same 30s per frame and it works. Is there anything special about the mp4 enscape creates?

You may also want to export the video in "Lossless" so that it exports frames only, not actual .mp4 files. It seems that camtasia simply does not support the codec used for our .mp4 videos, hopefully, frames should be more easily importable.

The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) offers workshops for the BGSU teaching community on a variety of topics related to creating, adapting, and/or assessing courses and course content as well as implementing academic tools and technology.

Camtasia is a powerful application that allows you to record your screen, create, and share dynamic videos. You can use Camtasia to record PowerPoint lectures, Canvas course introductions, homework reviews, and other custom videos that are tailored around your course content. You will get hands-on experience by producing and editing a video and integrating it into your Canvas course. The workshop duration is 2 hours.

This workshop serves as an introduction to the creation of two types of accessible documents: word processor files and slideshow presentations. You will learn the basic steps to making Word Documents and PowerPoints accessible to visually impaired readers. During this workshop, you will also engage with the accessibility checker provided by Microsoft Suite to investigate and remedy accessibility issues present within existing documents. All BGSU faculty members, staff, and graduate students interested in learning how to create accessible documents will benefit from the opportunity to practice remediating sample documents. The workshop duration is 1.5 hours.

In this workshop, we will discuss how to create a New Quiz in Canvas and how to set up quiz settings. New Quizzes is an updated assessment engine that integrates with Canvas and replaces the Classic Quizzes functionality. We will explore new question types such as Categorization, Ordering, and Hot Spots as well as discuss how to manage item banks. You will have an opportunity to create questions in an item bank in one of your Canvas courses and utilize the item bank in a quiz. The workshop duration is 1.5 hours.
