What I'm trying to do is take the files off Dropbox and save them on a hard drive.
I don't want to lose the files but it seems very difficult to move files from Dropbox to laptop. I'm almost trapped into keeping them in Dropbox!!!

Hi Jane

Thanks for the reply.

Clearing the cache doesn't work, using Google Chome or MS Edge doesn't work.
Trying to download a different file doesn't work.

The error message says "There was an error downloading your file."

I've checked the browser permissions and other than blocking ads, midi player and pop ups and redirects (default chrome behaviour) everything else inclduing downloads is available.

You'd think that I ought to be able to download my own files, right?

Headless Chromeis shipping in Chrome 59. It's a way to run the Chrome browser in a headless environment.Essentially, runningChrome without chrome! It brings all modern web platform features providedby Chromium and the Blink rendering engine to the command line.

A headless browser is a great tool for automated testing and server environments where youdon't need a visible UI shell. For example, you may want to run some tests againsta real web page, create a PDF of it, or just inspect how the browser renders an URL.

chrome should point to your installation of Chrome. The exact location willvary from platform to platform. Since I'm on Mac, I created convenient aliasesfor each version of Chrome that I have installed.

Running with --screenshot will produce a file named screenshot.png in thecurrent working directory. If you're looking for full page screenshots, thingsare a tad more involved. There's a great blogpost from David Schnurr that has you covered. Check outUsing headless Chrome as an automated screenshot tool .

When you run Chrome with --remote-debugging-port=9222, it starts an instancewith the DevTools protocol enabled. Theprotocol is used to communicate with Chrome and drive the headlessbrowser instance. It's also what tools like Sublime, VS Code, and Node use forremote debugging an application. #synergy

Since you don't have browser UI to see the page, navigate to :9222in another browser to check that everything is working. You'll see a list ofinspectable pages where you can click through and see what Headless is rendering:

From here, you can use the familiar DevTools features to inspect, debug, and tweakthe page as you normally would. If you're using Headless programmatically, thispage is also a powerful debugging tool for seeing all the raw DevTools protocolcommands going across the wire, communicating with the browser.

Puppeteer is a Node librarydeveloped by the Chrome team. It provides a high-level API to control headless(or full) Chrome. It's similar to other automated testing libraries like Phantomand NightmareJS, but it only works with the latest versions of Chrome.

Among other things, Puppeteer can be used to easily take screenshots, create PDFs,navigate pages, and fetch information about those pages. I recommend the libraryif you want to quickly automate browser testing. It hides away the complexitiesof the DevTools protocol and takes care of redundant tasks like launching adebug instance of Chrome.

Lighthouse is a marveloustool for testing the quality of your web apps. A robust module for launchingChrome was developed within Lighthouse and is now extracted for standalone use.The chrome-launcher NPM modulewill find whereChrome is installed, set up a debug instance, launch the browser, and kill itwhen your program is done. Best part is that it works cross-platform thanks toNode!

Right now, Selenium opens a full instance of Chrome. In other words, it's anautomated solution but not completely headless. However, Selenium can beconfigured to run headless Chrome with a little work. I recommendRunning Selenium with Headless Chromeif you want thefull instructions on how to set things up yourself, but I've dropped in someexamples below to get you started.

Only on Windows. Other platforms no longer require it. The --disable-gpu flag is atemporary work around for a few bugs. You won't need this flag in future versions ofChrome. See crbug.com/737678for more information.

What is Xvfb? Xvfb is an in-memory display server for Unix-like systems that enables youto run graphical applications (like Chrome) without an attached physical display. Many people use Xvfb to run earlier versions of Chrome to do "headless" testing.

Headless Chrome is similar to tools like PhantomJS. Bothcan be used for automated testing in a headless environment. The main differencebetween the two is that Phantom uses an older version of WebKit as its renderingengine while Headless Chrome uses the latest version of Blink.

I'm sorry that you are having some trouble. Let's get it sorted out. The version of the main 1Password app probably isn't relevant to this. What versions of (1) Chrome, and (2) the 1Password Chrome extension?

I'm using Chrome Version 28.0.1500.29. Extension is 3.9.17.90. I tried removing the extension and reinstalling once and the problem reappeared. It's no great hassle clicking on the "balloon" each time I reactivate Chrome but I was getting a little concerned that maybe something untoward was going on. Thanks for looking into it.

Here's some info that may be relevant... I have automatic sign in into my Mac, then I start a bunch of applications on Login, then I have a script to run a sleep sleep command to lock the computer. Its so I can shutdown the Mac at night, then when I get into work in the morning I can login and all my apps are all up and running already. Saves a lot of time. So could something in this process be breaking 1Password?

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Please do email us a Diagnostics Report as requested. We're trying to track down the source of this and would love to have more data on the issue. It could help not only yourself but others as well. :)

Hi, I have this issue with the same version of Chrome, i.e 28.0.1500.71, and 1Password extension version 3.9.19.90. I have run the diagnostics tool and can send it to you for information to try and resolve this issue. Thanks.

Hi @khad. Having a similar issue, chrome 28.0.1500.71 and 1Password 3.9.19.90. Just generated the diagnostic report, and will send shortly. I typically see the issue when I am running a GoToMeeting (presenting or not - doesn't matter). I actually get logged out of OSX, and then have to log in, and re-start all the apps that were previously open.

Unless I am misunderstanding you, that sounds impossible. Do you mean that an extension crash in Chrome logs you out of your OS X user account without any interaction? Or do you manually log out and then back in to get things working? You can reply to these questions in your email so we have all the information in the same place.

I have been having the same issue for a couple of weeks now. I am using Chrome and the Chrome extension on Windows. I also use Chrome's single sign-in or whatever it's called to get the same extensions on my Mac, and I have no problems.

When I start my computer, I get a pop-up down by the Windows clock that says "1password extension failed ... click this balloon to reload it." If I forget to click that window or can't get to it in time, I have to manually reload it in Chrome before it shows up so I can use it.

I then noticed that Chrome seems to be running already when I login.
It was news to me that Chrome adds itself to the list of Login Items.
After removing Chrome from the Login Items for my user, it doesn't
open automatically on logging in.
Now the extension doesn't crash anymore.

This is very strange news. I'll mention it to the team here. Thanks, @mdehlwes. In our experience it is actually related to extension syncing not starting on login, but we'll see if such a thing helps any other users. I'm wondering if it is just a strange coincidence in your case. In any event, I'm glad things are working well for you. We'll investigate further.
