Need help with permissions

Hi!

I need to set permission for some role to be able to submit all JV except those which type is cash. Is it possible?

Dear Slava,

Permission restriction is only possible for link fields. Since Voucher Type is a Select field, its not possible to give restricted permission on it.

May be there could be some workaround, e.g. to create a special link field for JV or something like that?

Not possible is a strong word :) It could be done using custom script by may be adding a custom validation. I am sure there could be other solutions too.

Dear Rushabh,

This is a good query from Slava since this kind of a need for permission can be very useful for others, I suggest that you change the select field to a doctype and then he could set the permission for only cash via the permissions manager.

Even I was using many select fields in my current project and found out that converting select fields to doctypes is a much better way of doing things...alas doctypes can only be created by admins so I think the best thing to do is convert the field to a doctype. 

If you people don't have time, then I would love to do the same but the only problem is that I could do the same in my test account but I don't know how to use the simple thing like github.

Aditya, you should become a developer / implementer - we could pass on a lot of customization queries to you :p

On a slightly more serious note, github has a hard learning curve - its not that simple, but once you understand how it works its really cool. If there are specific places you are stuck, please post it on the dev forum.

Well rushabh,

Lets not hijack this post but I am still to get started with using github in its true sense and I am only using it via web-browser which I know does not show the true sense of github.

Anyhow I have kept this query in my mind (hope I don't forget) and once I am through with the github learning then I would definitely find a way to do this since it is a good suggestion and would be needed by a lot of people. Till then @Slava, I am sorry I can't help you but maybe if the team has time they could fast forward this requirement (I know you guys are over loaded).

Hi,

I am also facing a problem with permissions and hence though about posting the same in this topic. The problem is that I have given some users the ability to add lead and they can access the leads where their user id is mentioned in the Next contact by field. But the problem is that if they make a NEW LEAD then how could I give them the access to add ADDRESS.

Giving address table access to their role without restrictions would inherently mean giving access to all the address and not just the addresses of the leads which they have access to.

Please let me know if there is any solution to the current problem in v3 or v4.
