I can probably chip in for Marketing, however the best approach still is the vibrant word of mouth community.
I also think that we have to press on DIY videos for migrations :
1) Tally to ERPNext
2) OpenERP to ERPNext
So on so forth, this can ensure we have more and more self help video helping spread the word of mouth.I for example am stuck on how do I move my CA frm his traditional Tally based approach to ERPNext.
Hope this gives you some more direction upon user adoption cycle.
