Hi There,

For user with Account User role, we would like to restrict Cost Center information to within the company they work for. But in the Permission Manager, there is no way to set this. There is an option but it is for company_name rather then company user property. We are setting and using Company property everywhere in the system for other permissions. Is there anyway to have company user property available on Permission page for setting rules for Cost Center doc type? See below image.

Kind regards,
Mayur Patel

Mayur,

Cost Center unfortunately has company_name as the fieldname. Seems like an oversight.

We will change it in the near future (https://github.com/webnotes/erpnext/issues/402)

But for now you will have to set two user properties company and company_name to restrict the Cost Center.

best,
Rushabh

Thanks Rushabh,

We will appreciate if it can be done as a priority. How do I set the company_name property automatically? Sorry, I don't remember it.

Hello Mayur,

You will find option called Set Property in the Profile master of the User to define default values for specific field.

Thanks Umair. So this means that I will have to manually set this property for all users?

You can also import them. In data import tool, select Profile and download DefaultValue template.

Hi Guys,

Is this something fixed yet? If not, do you have an estimate date? We have new employees joining the company, and the HR person who is adding these new records don't have adequate knowledge to manually keep defining this property. It will be easier if it is automated. Thanks.

Kind regards,
Mayur Patel

Mayur,

Are all these new employees accountants?

You are well aware that we have only so many resources and we are already over booked (please see the issues list on GitHub). I would not classify this a "bug" but an annoyance.

Will try for next week (can't guarantee), but it will only be a part of the new branch.

If its that important, you may want to pay to get it done on priority.

Thats how open source works.

Wait or Pay to get it done :-)

Hi Rushabh,

No, they are not accountants but they are apprentice from some of the colleges we have tie up with who will be helping in entering PO into the system. I agree it is not a high priority but more of support issue for me as they will have to request me to add this property for them every time they add new users. I am happy to wait but just wanted to know when it will be fixed so that I can communicate it to the next level.

Kind regards,

Mayur,

Will release it with our upcoming release - we are still testing it, might take min. 2-3 weeks before it can be taken live.

best,
Rushabh
